5A great picture, with only minor drawbacks
By fluffy
I have been putting this television through its paces since I got it a few weeks ago, and it is by far the best TV I have ever owned, and very difficult to beat. The image quality is really good, with bright, vivid colors and wonderful detail, especially for 1080i/p content, but even lower-resolution 720p content, which is what's more commonly-available on OTA HD broadcast, looks phenomenal. I also have an Apple TV hooked up to it, and even though most of my content is encoded at either 360p, 480p, or 720p, it still looks quite good.It does take some time to get the image tuned to perfection, and the default settings are way too bright with too much color saturation boost, and the DNIe processing system actually seems to make some motion effects worse. However, it's very easy to change the settings and see immediately what effect they have.Like all LCDs it does have some slight black point problems; these aren't noticeable for fullscreen 16:9 content, but for older 4:3 content it's pretty obvious that the black isn't pure black. However, this is again tunable. The only thing I really notice which is pretty annoying is that it doesn't do a very good job of upscaling 480i content, such as the output from most video game systems, and for DVDs to look good you really need an upconverting player since even with a progressive-scan player there is a lot of visible pixelation when the 480p content is scaled up. It's really more a sad reflection on how the previous "next-generation" video looks downright primitive by today's standards. The other noticeable issue is that unlike many televisions with digital tuners, it doesn't have an on-screen program guide. My previous TV (also a Samsung) had an on-screen program guide, but it was rather cumbersome to use and took several minutes of scanning every channel to see what was on, and most local channels are pretty inconsistent about providing the EPG information anyway, so it's not really that big of a deal. You can still see the detailed information for the program that's currently showing, so it makes use of EPG, just not as much as it could. This television's tuner is also quite phenomenal. My previous TV required a very carefully-positioned powered antenna which was very sensitive to every little nearby fluctuation, while with this one I only have a piece of wire jammed into the antenna port and I get perfect reception of every local digital station.Another nice improvement over Samsung's older HDTVs is that it has a wide variety of zoom modes which allow you to counteract some of the stupider things that TV stations do (for example, pillboxing a letterboxed 16:9 show, which is very common for widescreen non-HD programming). Also, analog TV stations and source inputs get their audio signals upconverted to digital, so you only need to run a single optical audio connection to your stereo (while previous Samsungs required running both analog and digital cables and switching between the two inputs based on source material). As a PC monitor this is also quite nice. I have a Mac mini hooked up via SVGA cable, and even with an analog signal it looks perfectly sharp and crystal-clear, and of course you can hook it up via HDMI (with a DVI to HDMI adaptor) as well. The only gripe there is that the supported resolutions are a bit quaint - at least on analog SVGA the only 16:9 resolution it supports is 1920x1080, which can be difficult for some older systems to handle. However, on HDMI it should support all the standard HD resolutions. This television may be more expensive than others in its size class, but it also far outshines every other TV I have seen, aside from the newer LN-T4065, which is nearly identical aside from providing a higher dynamic contrast ratio. If you want to only buy one TV which will last for a long time, it would be hard to go wrong with this one.

5Exceptional
By Scott Hilleque
I've had the LN-T4061 for a week now and am still very impressed. The picture quality is excellent, build quality is solid, and ease-of-use is very good too. I am using it with an HD cable box, a Media Center PC, and a home theater receiver. In all cases, connecting and configuring the various inputs was completely obvious and pain free.General Image: The colors are absolutely amazing. I've looked at a LOT of LCDs over the past few months and I can't recall any of them looking this vibrant. The 10,000-to-1 contrast ratio really makes for a stunning image. The black level is very good for an LCD too, but not quite pitch-black. Since I like to watch movies at night in a dark room, I can pick out a tiny amount of dark grey if I'm looking for it. Still, it's much better than most LCDs and the high contrast ratio makes dark scenes look much better. If you look at LCDs in a store, you'll notice they always play bright, contrasty video. That's because most LCDs have a problem showing the difference between dark colors, like in shadows and night scenes. The Samsung isn't perfect, but it doesn't wash out nearly as bad as the others I sampled.Image Settings: You can fine tune picture settings (Color, Contract, Brightness, etc.) or use one of the built-in presets. The default setting was a little "over driven" for my eyes, so I stepped it back to the next level and haven't had to touch it since. All settings are stored per-input, which is how it should be.High Definition: Both of my sources output in HD, the cable box at 1080i and the HTPC at 1080p. I give it 5 stars each in image quality, color fidelity, lack of pixilation, and lack of motion tear.Standard Definition: I don't really have an SD source anymore as my cable box and HTPC up-convert the content to HD. I did connect an S-Video cable just to try it out though, and was generally satisfied with the picture. There were definitely artifacts of scaling and de-interlacing, but they mostly disappeared to my eye at couch distance (about 12 feet). I didn't give it the close scrutiny I did with the HDMI and component connections though.HDMI Inputs: I am using only one of the three HDMI jacks, and that for connecting the cable box. In the past I would leave the TV volume at 100% and use the PVR's internal volume control to set the final level. Over HDMI though, you always have full volume going to the TV. The easy work-around for this was to train the cable remote to use the TV codes for volume. This works great and the picture quality is excellent. I also read a forum post about the TV "handshaking" intermittently over an HDMI connection, but I haven't experienced it. Also, on a side note, do NOT buy expensive HDMI cables. The signal is 100% digital and doesn't benefit in any significant way from a $150 "OFC" or "directional" cable. If you need a run of 50' or more it's a different story, but at 6' it's a non-issue.Component Inputs: Before I got the HDMI cable, I used the component jacks for a few days and I can't say that I noticed any difference when I went to HDMI. It's nice having a single cable instead of the 5 for component, but I couldn't tell one way or another.Audio: The built in 10-watt speakers are not enough for immersive movie watching, but they do just fine for regular TV shows. Coupled with a home theater sound system, you've got the best of both worlds; easy operation for normal stuff and theater sound for movies.On-Screen Menus: It has a nicely polished translucent on-screen menu system. The layout is simple, features that don't apply are grayed out, and the hierarchy is logical. What more can you ask for.Remote Control: I use the cable PVR's remote most of the time, and had no trouble adding Samsung's codes to it. The Samsung remote is actually quite nice, but there are enough special features built into the cable remote (PVR, guide, A B & C buttons, etc) that I prefer to make that the normal clicker. I still keep the TV remote handy though as there are a few features the other remote won't do when watching movies. I wish I could do it all with just one, but I guess that's where remotes like the Logitech Harmony come in.Cabinet: Personally, I don't like "shiny" media equipment; they just cause glare and distract from what you are really watching. The frame is somewhat shiny but the screen it totally matte. In my opinion, it's a nice mix and looks quite professional. I was worried about the WAF, but the first words out of her mouth were "wow, its pretty". That's good enough for me.Other: I played around with the "digital picture frame" mode some and it is kind of neat. You plug a USB stick into the side and it does a slide show of the photos and music on it. I probably won't use it as I have a media center PC, but those that don't might find it useful. That same USB slot is also used to do firmware upgrades, which is a lot better than shipping it off to a service center if an incompatibility ever crops up.All in all I am extremely pleased with this TV. I waited a long time for 1080p prices to fall to levels that would fit my budget and I'm really happy I chose this one. There aren't many reviews out there for this year's model yet, but I expect this one to take off big time.

4Excellent picture quality for TV, PC, gaming, movies
By Michael Yuen
There are some really good reviews of this TV already, and I will add to them my own good (and bad) experiences.PROS: Excellent picture quality. Plenty of input sources, including VGA (for computers/laptops.) Sexy design and good value.CONS: Some minor design issues. Remote control is laggy.SUMMARY: You can't go wrong with this unit. I like it a lot.

ED REVIEW:Like Phil, I also had in mind to use this TV for all my multimedia needs: computer, Playstation 2 Slim, Over-the-Air (OTA) HD TV, and of course, movies. I live in a 2-bedroom apartment and didn't want anything less than 1080p. I also do not subscribe to cable or satellite TV due to the fact that I do not (yet) see the necessity to pay $50/month for something I don't really use.The television brands I was primarily considering were the Sharp Aquos and Samsung units. I settled for this TV due to the number of input options, good value (price), and sexy looks. I chose LCD over Plasma because of what I intended to primarily use the TV for: computer use, gaming, and lower chances of picture "burn-ins" that older-generation Plasma is known for.Keep in mind that this review is written with the TV brightness set at 70%, as running it at 100% would shorten the lifespan of the LCD. At full 100% brightness, the television definitely is a stunner! The unit has also been configured to detect changes in room lighting and automatically adjust the brightness accordingly.COMPUTER USE:This is what I use this unit for primarily. Excellent image quality despite connecting a 1920x1080 resolution laptop to the Samsung with a regular VGA-to-VGA cable. My next laptop will likely have a DVI video port -- when that happens, I definitely recommend a DVI-to-HDMI cable. Text is sharp and images are bright and vivid. Playing recorded HD television programs is bliss, and playing BBC's/Discovery Channel's Planet Earth mini-series at 780p has blown away the mind of every single person who wanted to see what this TV is capable of. My laptop could not smoothly handle the 1080p version, but that has nothing to do with the TV.Computer games looked excellent and no blurring was noticeable. Games included Command and Conquer: Tiberium Wars, Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault, Need for Speed: Carbon, and many more.I agree with one of the reviewers who mentioned how amazingly bad DVD movies look when compared to today's available HD programs. But again, this has nothing to do with this TV at all as DVD video is becoming an outdated standard. The DVD movies were played through the laptop with no upscaling whatsoever. Blu-Ray simply looks amazing on this unit when my friend fired up his Playstation 3 with a Blu-Ray movie! The same can be said about HD-DVD when my brother hooked up his Xbox360 and a HD-DVD movie.PHOTOGRAPHY USE:When viewing my images, they look absolutely amazing! I am a hobbyist photographer (with ambitions to go pro) with a Canon EOS 30D digital SLR (see some examples of these images posted on Amazon.com by searching for the Canon 30D and going through the customer-supplied photos. The camera itself is astonishing.)Friends and family marvel at how sharp and vibrant the photos look on this set.PLAYSTATION 2 SLIM USE:Picture quality was horrible when connecting the PS2Slim to the TV set with the included PS2 RCA cables. I read that buying the optional PS2 S-Video cable would improve picture quality, and so I went out to get one. It sure did help, but the games still look bad (but playable.) Suffice to say, the PS2 was never designed for HD. Get the PS3 or Xbox360 instead.OVER-THE-AIR TELEVISION USE:There wasn't true 1080p content available for me to receive over the air. The closest was 1080i, and although most people said that it looked amazing, I'm a picky computer professional when it comes to picture quality. Nonetheless, it definitely played analog broadcast channels better than my dad's Philips set. Those channels that I am able to receive (mostly 720p) looks pretty stunning. One qualm I have about this unit is that it doesn't seem to have an auto-resize functionality that would turn everything into widescreen. The manual recommends that full-screen content not be played for too long on ANY television set (not just this Samsung), as the difference between the actual video content and the black bars on the side may become a problem over time. You can force any video (except for the computer feed) into widescreen by using the included remote. I like how my dad's Philips unit resizes everything into widescreen, though I don't like how fullscreen content looks stretched when forced to widescreen.Personally, I leave fullscreen content at fullscreen and take my chances. I did not know that LCDs could have "burn-in" problems, but hey, never say never.MOVIE USE:Video quality looks STUNNING. The blacks are, of course, not as black as Plasma televisions, but it's really not that noticeable. There's no noticeable ghosting and action sequences look quite good. Colors are vibrant. I watch my movies with the lights on.SOUND:The built-in speakers are not bad, but when compared to the THX-certified Logitech Z-5500 Digital speakers I use with my computer, it's like comparing a Honda with a BMW. I like both car makers. I have hooked up the television unit to the Logitech speakers with an optical audio cable, and you can definitely notice the difference in optical vs standard RCA-type cables. Surround sound comes from the right places, and some of the television shows actually provide engaging surround sound! The problem with optical cables is that audio is always sent at full volume to the speakers. So, you'll have to control the sound volume with the speaker remote instead. The unit boasts a feature that would auto-level sound coming from each TV channel so that while you're flipping through the channels, the difference in volumes of those channels would not be so noticeable. In other words, as you're flipping through a more silent channel to a loud one, the loud one should automatically be adjusted by the TV to match the quieter one. I was not able to get this feature to work even though it's turned on in the setup. Perhaps it's because I'm having the sound go through the optical audio cables. Remember, optical cables always sent the full volume to the speakers. I haven't had a chance to try it without the optical audio cable yet. I like optical audio too much to let go of it :-)VISUAL DESIGN OF THE TV:It's sexy and gets compliments from everyone who has seen it. The glossy piano finish definitely gives it a high-class edge. I chose not to buy the 4065F model because the 4061F one does a better job of minimizing glare. The television does work like a dust magnet. Dust collects easily as another reviewer pointed out. Keep your feather duster handy for once-every-2-week use.The swivel base is nice. It allows you to turn the TV into a desired position.MISC:- This unit allows you to label the various input sources so that when you switch between them, it shows what you're looking at. It does not, however, allow you to completely customize the names of the predefined labels.- There's a feature in the setup that shows you the signal strength of the TV source. This has helped me optimally position my antenna.- The remote control doesn't feel as nice as it looks, and pushing the buttons shows noticeable lag between then they were pushed and when the TV responds. Somebody else pointed out this minor flaw too.- Another reviewer also pointed out that there is a lag between the power button is pushed and when the display shows something. He/she shared that his/her mother kept turning on/off the TV while thinking that it wasn't working. Indeed there is such a lag while the television "readies" itself. You can tell whether the TV is responding or not by looking at the red LED of the power button: when you push to turn on the set, it starts blinking, followed by a sound after a couple seconds. When you turn off the set, a sound is played to indicate that it has been turned off. This lag is true with most LCDs, however, including computer LCDs.I do wish that instead of utilizing a blinking status indicator that the TV is turning on, that they would transition the solid red (off) into solid blue (on), for example. I think the 4065F model does that. All said and done, I highly recommend this television and would give it 5 stars if it weren't for some of the minor design issues.----------------EDIT 11/7/2007: TV's still functioning beautifully and I am still very happy with the purchase.

4Great TV for the size and price
By Daniel R. Gresko
Had this TV for about 1 month now. Got at BJs, delivered for under $1200. Set up pretty simple. I used the THX Optimizer which is found on most Lucas DVDs such as any Star Wars. So far, Id say the picture is great. Normal cable is what it is, its ok. But I have HD programming and a PS3, which I use for Blue Ray disks. HD looks great! Ive seen so many posts on the net that say 1080 on a TV less that 42 in is not noticable...well, thats BS. I can see a huge difference and the HD and Blue rays look very nice. Also, with 5ms response time, I have no blurring or ghosting when I game, and I play a lot of fast race games.Pros - Great picture and easy to set up.Cons - Only one so far is the remote needs to be aimed right at the TV or it wont work.If a 40 In TV will fit your needs( I have a 800 SF apt, and this TV is a perfect fit), you cant go wront with this TV.

5Excellent initial impression
By Guillermo Pineda
I've had this 1080p/20000:1/5ms/60Hz LCD for a week and my initial experience is extremely satisfactory. It performs as advertised for HDTV, DVD, & PC (haven't tried gaming yet). Works great in a brigth room. No pixelation in fast scenes. Easy access menus. Plenty of inputs for my needs. Looks great. After offers and coupons, my total price at a local B&M store was $1,356 including the LCD, a sleek Samsung 1080 up-conv. DVD player, a 4-year extended warranty and taxes. Can't complain!Minor cons: Below average sound. Remote control must be carefully aimed at the front of the TV, very narrow angle of operation.Bottom line: If a 40-inch screen size is enough for your viewing needs, this unit holds its own against any other top competitor brands in this category.

5Samsung LN40A530 40-inch 1080p LCD HDTV
By Desertdaddio
Samsung LN40A530 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTVWhat a bargain. I went shopping for a Sony and ended up with this great TV. Everything is there for your needs. I have no reason to connect my laptop, but it will do that if you want. The picture is stunning. I compared this to the more expensive models in both Samsung and Sony, and didn't notice much difference. The sound is exceptional, so I don't run it through my system except for some movies. There are three energy saving modes. I have mine set at medium at night. If you have the setting off, it's brilliantly blinding! You need to have additional lighting on.A great value, great picture (5 ms), and great sound. The manufactures website hasn't caught up with certain stats, so don't rely on everything you read on there site. Why spend more!

5Shockingly Good Picture Quality
By B. Chandler
After almost a year of doing research on all 52 inch LCD's, my wife and I finally took the plunge and bought the XBR5. We already had a Samsung 32 inch HI DEF with great picture quality, and, the Samsung 71 and 81F's were in the running; but, as with a good portion of reviewers on Amazon, we, too, found the glare of the Samsungs a big negative. We checked out both the XBR5 and the 71F side by side at a closeby TV warehouse, and glare issues on the SAMMY finally eliminated it from the list. True, the Samsung's picture was stunning, but the screen picked up just about every available light source in the store and threw it back out at the viewer. It's too bad Samsung is so set on the glass. It really is a huge problem. Now, onto the SONY XBR5. The side speakers are more than adequate for the average viewer; however, if you're an audiophile, a good sound system would be recommended down the road after the TV is paid off. I was pleasantly surprised, though, with the quality of the internal speakers. The picture on this TV is outstanding; superb, actually. After spending some time with the video settings, I found that the VIVID mode was the absolute best for our viewing, as long as the color was also backed down to about 70 percent, the brightness to about 30 percent and contrast to 60 percent or so. The tint was fine at the 0 level. It's truly amazing that a screen of this size shows virtually NO pixels at a normal viewing distance. The video in HI DEF looks as crisp and clean as a movie screen. The standard analog programming just pales in comparison. We found it a bit "fuzzy", but with a screen this size, it's to be expected. To really appreciate this TV, one MUST have a HI DEF cable box or go satellite. I couldn't say how over the air HD looks, since we have cable. We are extremely happy with our purchase. The 120hz motion settings come in OFF, STANDARD and HIGH. I've found STANDARD is probably best for sports programming. It does an adequate job.As for looks, the glass around the screen with chrome stripping is a nice touch. It sets the look off with an "upscale" design, befitting the quality of the TV.We would highly recommend this model to anyone wanting a beautiful, perfect 52 inch HI DEF. The blacks are very black, the colors are incredible, the lines and clarity in HI DEF are just breathtaking. It's expensive, but, if it's the main TV in any household and gets watched every day, it's worth the extra money. SONY'S attention to LCD exclusively now, having dropped Plasma a few years back, shows in the extreme brilliance and unbelievable perfection of the picture. Get this one! It's the best LCD 52 inch on the market. One caveat, SONY recently announced that they're discontinuing their association with Samsung and going with Sharp, possibly as soon as April. Sharp has been known for banding issues and problems with uniformity in their LCD screens, so, unless they've worked out the problems, it might be a good idea to grab one of these sets while they still have Samsung blood running through them. For my money, Samsung and SONY are neck and neck as far as LCD technology.

5Best LCD on the market
By Jon Boyle
I owned a Samsung 50" 720p Plasma and wanted to upgrade to a similar size LCD 1080p capable of displaying BluRay sources.I shopped around for a large screen LCD for 6 months, reading all the reviews and talking to experts, as well as comparing the picture using reference source material. I also looked at sets that my friends and family had bought. I settled on the XBR5 simply because it is capable of displaying the best picture of any TV, bar none.I almost went for the Pioneer Kuro plasma, but the LCD technology is the winner in the marketplace and is lighter than the plasma, allowing it to be mounted easier. The definition in the picture is incredible, and the brightness and contrast are the best that I have seen on any set. BluRay, needless to say, is unbelieveable. If you're not ready to go to BluRay 1080p, then upconverted DVDs look spectacular on this set also, with hardly any loss of definition or color. The factory settings are perfectly fine, but the set allows for tremendous customization in all areas of display and audio. The 120 mhz motion circuitry seems to effectively take care of fast-paced movies (such as the Bourne franchise) and sporting events. You have to be careful with what you wish for. A set like this set will amplify any deficiencies in the source material. You have to read DVD reviews and ratings before buying things that you will be disappointed in when you show them on this set. Also, the price is steep compared to other sets. Finally, everything on this set can be had on the XBR4 series, except for a few additional connections and cosmetic features. That saves approximately $500 and you get the same picture. All in all, an unqualified recommendation to buy.

5Absolutely the best
By B. Carlson
I've owned this television for just over three weeks and will admit in the beginning that I do not know all the bells and whistles as of yet. This television is phenominal with picture clarity and gives you so many different options to tweak the picture and audio to your individual specifications. I haven't adjusted anything out of the box yet because I am impressed with factory settings.I shopped around for a television for three months. I narrowed it down to the Samsung LNT5271F and this model. Samsung looked awesome, but issues with reflectivity on the glossy finish and the playback of movies and programs on the Samsung looked too cartoonish and fake. I looked at this Sony model in four different retail locations under different lighting conditions and was impressed with the quality in the picture. Sound didn't worry me a bit because I have playback of that through a receiver and home theater set up at home.Blu-ray looks unbelievable on this television. Almost like you can walk right into the screen and be a part of the film as you watch it. Standard DVD looks great as well with the HDMI upconversion capability. I have satellite hooked into the TV also through HDMI and picture looks great there also. Some standard definition television shows struggle to bring in the full picture quality, but I feel that technology will upconvert to the television and that this television will not be obsolete to all the FCC regulations and forthcoming changes in technology. In reading other consumer reviews on this television, some claim to be disappointed with fast motion in football, basketball or other sporting shows they watch. The Motionflow assists with this issue; however, I have yet to use it for any sporting event I watch. The event is crystal clear and easy to follow fast motion things like football throw, puck pass/shoot, etc.I'm very pleased with every aspect of this television thus far and highly recommend it to those consumers who are looking for a huge technological leap and looking for a television that is prepared for the future.

5excellent value
By N. Powers
This was my first LCD TV purchase; I bought it after being quite impressed with the picture on the floor model at Best Buy, and nearly blown away by the clarity of the sound coming out of the speakers. (The latter was an important factor for me, because I don't want to invest in a home theater sound system just yet.) After three weeks, it hasn't disappointed at all. HD cable programming looks great, my Xbox 360 (via HDMI cable) looks and plays fantastically, and I'm somehow even getting a decent picture out of my old crappy DVD player. Standard definition cable programming is hit and miss; some channels look a lot better than others, for reasons I'm unsure of, although even the worse ones are certainly not bad enough to stop me from watching and enjoying them too. The sound is indeed amazing; I can turn down the volume to near-minimal levels and still hear everything that's happening on-screen (speech, music, and ambient noises).I'll note that there are three HDMI inputs, not two as the "Product Details" section above seems to indicate. Finally, I'll note that the two negative reviews below (as of the time of this posting) deal entirely with Amazon's delivery service; they say nothing substantive about the TV itself, which is a shame, because in my opinion this set is very high quality and (at its price) therefore a very good value.

5Hands down, best TV for the price
By T. Ragsdale
Bought this TV after about 3 months of research. Watched all the TVs in Best Buy, Circuit City, Frys, etc., for hours. Could not get past the picture quality of this TV as compared to other models on the wall. And sound quality was by far the best among the TVs I looked at - important if you don't plan to use a home theater system. Stand and look at this TV in the store and compare it to the other TVs and you'll see what I mean. Picture quality seemed more natural and less grainy than other brands on the wall. Before buying I breifly considered some 120 HZ models, including the Samsung 650 and the new Sony, all at around $500 more than this model. As for 120 Hz, I just couldn't tell a difference on broadcast HD/TV, and while the difference on movies was obvious, the effect seemed unnatural. Made films look more like live TV - interesting to watch, but just not a true movie experience in my opinion. I'm not knocking 120 Hz, just didn't feel like it was for me.Connected this TV to a Sony progressive scan DVD using component connections and got incredible picture quality. I guess BlueRay via HDMI would be better, but honestly I can't imagine how. Still on analog cable at the moment with only a handful of digital HD channels available - all of which look fantastic. Converting to Verizon FIOS next week and looking forward to even better picture quality. As for setup, I went from the box to watching TV in under 10 minutes. No alteration of the default picture settings was required in my opinion. I do recommend using the "standard" picture mode. "Vivid" is cool at first, but hard on the eyes after a while. And you will probably want to boost the bass a little on the audio. Standard definition channels, as viewed on any HD TV, will vary in quality. I found most standard def channels to look pretty good, and I think Sony does the best job overall of cleaning up the picture.Remote is simple and easy to use, and I've found the on-screen menus to be reasonably intuitive. For me it had plenty of inputs: 3 HDMI, 2 component, 2 composite, and a PC. Also has a single audio out which can be used to connect to an A/V receiver or (I presume) a home theater system if you have one.The only two cons I have found for this TV are: 1) after you power it on, it takes about 7-10 seconds before the picture comes on -- but my old Sony did this too so it wasn't a big deal to me. And 2) you can't scroll through channels quickly, you have to move one at a time. Not sure if this is unique to Sony or if all TVs do this. But if you're using a cable or satallite box, then this won't matter to you anyway.Bottom line -- great picture quality, decent sound, affordable price, easy to setup and use, no complicated fine tuning required, and a brand name that won't embarrass you when your friends come over. Go see one in the store and then trust your eyes, you won't be disappointed.

5Looks and sounds great
By olajoe
This is my second hdtv the first was the 27" Olevia. Since that purchase almost 10 months ago I have scrolled literally through hundreds of reviews commercial and consumer. Brands that I looked into repeatedly where: Philips, Olevia, Samsung, Vizio, Westinghouse, and LG.I've rented an LG and it had probably the most amazing surround sound. My roommate owned a smaller sized Phillips which had fantastic image quality. The reviews of Vizio and Westinghouse reminded me of what was being said about the Olevia. While the price of Olevia's 747i described as their flagship has dropped to a really nice price it still remains the heaviest.Really like what Samsung has to offer and read just about every review for the 46a 550 mutiple times and the glowing theme was incredible image with unimpressive audio.Recently walked into Target and did a walk through of there floor models where I saw this Sony model. Up until now, I was uninterested in Sony because felt it had more bells and whistles than I really needed and it was too pricey. But when I saw this floor model it was a clear stand out. While there I messed around with the settings and realized the remote was by far the easiest I had used. After muting the surrounding tvs I then tested out the floor models audio and just slightly halfway at more than 20ft away this model did well at pulling me in and just about everyone else that was there watching.Thought maybe my initial impression might have been a little cloudy because of the limited sets on display so decided to stop by circuit city to view this model alongside some other top dollar sets. When I realized this set looked as good as similiarly priced sets and even those that were higher priced it hit me that this was the big screen HDtv that came with what I wanted: Clear image, crisp audio, and a remote that is so easy to use and program to the cable remote that I will have to hide it from my two year old.Since setting up this lightweight screen is a breeze I was able to begin watching in minutes. If you are like me and have to put away your game console so the kids don't get in it the tv has a side HDMI port for easy access. After running Ninja gaiden sigma and Call of duty 4 at 1080p found myself mostly just soaking in cut scenes instead of actually playing through.I'm purposely leaving out a review of this tv in standard definition because the image is good and bad depending on the channel. From what I've read a lot of this has to do with signal strength and processing. In short, HD looks good, audio sounds great, and with the easy set up and remote you'll probably be viewing hd faster than it took to actually buy the tv itself.

5Fantastic!!!!!!!!
By tribaltat
I've been living with a Panasonic PT40LC12 LCD projection TV since early 2002. Originally, it had a great picture...but, over the years (and 2 bulbs later) the quality of the image has deteriorated significantly. In all fairness, this set is used , on average, about 6-7 hours each day...so, it really owed me nothing. Also, it maxed out at 480P, and didn't have HDMI. So, I went out in search of a replacement. I've been looking at current models for about a year and finally decided to get this Sony.I've had it about one week, and after spending some time tweaking the picture settings (there are a ton of user adjustments available) I finally sat down and watched a few DVDs.I've got 2 DVD players and the first film that I watched was viewed at 480P using the component inputs. I had seen the same film before and wanted to compare....the image was absolutely fantastic. Although the DVD was a movie, the image looked more like live video. The depth of the image blew me away...the color was perfect...it looked almost like a live network feed. The next DVD was viewed at 1080I using the HDMI inputs. Again, the image was outstanding.Adjusting the set is not for the faint of heart. The Vivid and Normal settings are, in my opinion, way too bright...too much contrast and color intensity. Although it appears that they can be adjusted...why bother. They might work if the set were being used in a sports bar, or other venue...but, not in the home.I concentrated on the Cinema and Custom settings. There are several blogs, technical sites, etc. on the web that discuss adjustments for this set. It's really worth the time to hunt them down. One thing I read was that the 120hz scan feature only works in the Cinema or Custom settings...and Sony's "out of the box" default is to have that feature turned off. So, make sure to check the settings for the inputs you're using.I concentrated on getting the best image in the Custom mode for each of my attached inputs. I found that "WARM 1" was the setting that provided the best "live looking" image. WARM 2 (the default for Cinema mode) gave the image a look that most closely mirrored a movie theater experience. If you tweak the Custom settings to give you the most "live looking" image...you can use the THEATER button on the remote to switch into a more Cinema looking image. Also, it appears that you can adjust the levels for each input...so, you can tweak the picture for each device that you connect without changing any of the others. Although I have an outstanding AV receiver which does 1080P video and audio switching (to which most of my components are attached), I found that where multiple device outputs are available, attaching any device directly to the TV allows the picture to be customized specifically for that device....you can still use your surround sound receiver for the audio. The remote control is somewhat complex (including a hidden compartment at the bottom with a sliding door). It also took a while to learn to navigate through the various setup and adjustment screens...but, in a short time, it really all made sense.Viewing my standard definition DirecTV channels was OK....I haven't gone to HDTV as I need to chop some trees to get the proper angle and elevation for the 5 LNB HD dish. However, if the HD channels come in as great as the DVD images, life will be beautiful.I don't, as yet, have either a BluRay or HD DVD player....as soon as the industry decided which will be king, then I'll decide which to buy......and, the prices can only go lower with each passing day. I've seen BluRay DVDs played over this TV and all I can say is...I can't wait to get mine. All in all...I think I made the correct choice. It was probably the most expensive set that I considered...but, if it stands up over the years, I think it was worth the price. Also, I'm glad that I waited for the XBR4. The previous XBR model wasn't nearly as attractive (e.g., that ugly silver surround). Also, Sony added many improvements (if you can believe them) to this newer model. If you decide to get one of these...please take the time to study the owners manual. Although there are some unexplained and confusing descriptions, it will at least give you a place to start.UPDATE...I've had this set for about 2 months now...It only gets better. I purchased a blu-ray player and now watch all my DVDs upconverted to 1080P. Watching blu-ray DVDs at 1080P/24 is the best I've ever seen (even in the stores on their demo sets). The "clouding" issue reported on the previous XBR2/3 doesn't exist...so it appears that Sony did solve that problem.

5Amazing Journey, Fantastic Television
By SG-CEO Advertising Agency
First, some basic insights I gained while shopping for this television. The last LCD HDTV that I purchased was not a top brand name. So when it suddenly died, with a "crackle...pop"noise, I googled the sound to learn it was the power supply unit. And not an uncommon occurrence. Just google "lcd tv crackle pop" and look at all the results.I took it to a number of very high-end A/V repair shops that refused to work on it, since they "didn't have a manual". I called everyone, including the manufacturer. But they were focused on their current models and since they weren't name brands, had no reputation for...anything, and were not going to not about to be helpful. So much for LCD TVs that aren't name brands. Or those without warranties. So unless you intend to make your HDTV a disposable one, go for the brand name.Second, LCD TVs are not computers or audio components. Not even iPods or iPhones. During my quest for the best television, I found that all the HDTV models changed quicker than the price of coffee at Starbucks. I visited one retail outlet that was selling 5 different Sxxxxxx LCD TVs on the floor and 2 more in their "high-end" room. All 7 models had been introduced within the last 12 months. Do not expect this trend to stop.By the time you own your unit a month or two, there probably will be a variation of a higher model that's become your current unit, or your unit will have been upgraded by a letter in the alphabet or numerically. You won't have the "latest or greatest" for very long. But don't worry. You'll still love what you purchased. And just as I was about to buy, I was frozen by the audiofile forums, on "banding" and "clouding" issues. For the Sharp and Sony monitors, respectively. But with the fast introduction of new models, those problems were corrected by the time I went to buy, just a month or two later. Now that's simply amazing to me. What other industry is introducing 5 models within 12 months? Check it out. Nobody could make this up.Next, we have the internet vs. the retail models. Virtually the same model numbers with a few minor variations. Why? Because many of the retail stores offer "match pricing" but can't match the prices on the internet. There may be "servicing" differences also, but I can't confirm that. From my research, the manufacturer's accommodate the retailers by offering internet models with internet pricing. They don't have to price-match with the internet models. We're not just looking at a few hundred dollars, either. Sometimes I saw price differences of $600-$700 or more. But you have to know exactly what you're doing online. Or get off. I guarantee that you'll be sorry.I learned to stay far far away from Ebay for some products, and this is one. Many of the "Power" Ebayers sold models that were discontinued, but were "new, in the box", which was probably true. And often timed their sales with the release of a new model. They used this confusion to help them sell. Also, I found many of the exact models for hundreds less, elsewhere online, like Amazon, but without the urgency of shopping Ebay. I found that it wasn't what the "Power Sellers" were saying in their ads. It was what they weren't saying that was frightening.I purchased one HDTV on Ebay and after the sale closed, I got hit with a whopping insurance and delivery charge. I didn't care about my Ebay "star" or my 100% record perfect record going back 5 years. I told the company that I'd charge it back and issue a press release. They backed out. But I had to be willing to do it, and they had to feel it, before they did it.Don't try that at home.Without a doubt, the safest place to buy is on Amazon. I shop with security, confidence, and I know their return policy will be honored. I can safely say that. One company I ordered another LCD TV was a third party vendor on Amazon. After patiently waiting for almost a month for delivery (I'm very busy at work) I got a little suspicious. Sure enough, they were off Amazon's list. And I was a casualty. But within 2 days, I had the funds credited to my account. That really impressed me. Of course I had to make a commotion. But things have really changed since 1999. Seriously. It's a different world now. But Amazon was real. And they came though. So if you plan to shop anywhere for an LCD TV, please use Amazon. I could go into missing pixels, Mexico vs. Japan, shopping for warranties at Sonystyle.com, cable vs. satellite, etc. But I think I've bored everyone. And those I haven't bored, I've insulted. So I'll leave it at these 4 final last points. First, the size of the LCD TV you will purchase looks about 250% bigger at home than in the store. Remember that. Second, we finally decided to purchase the new 32" Sony XBR4 (non-1080p) for the bedroom and the 40" Sony XBR4 1080p (Sony Bravia XBR KDL-40XBR4 40" 1080p LCD HDTV) for the living room and we're thrilled. Due to digital satellite, the images on the analog channels have great resolution. I don't see any "grainyness" whatsoever. And the 40" Sony XBR4 1080p that we purchased for the living room is amazing. Gorgeous. Third, we're approaching Christmas, and I'm watching prices go up the last few weeks, and that includes Amazon. So either buy today or if you're budget conscious, plan on waiting until January, after the holiday season. Fourth, I look at the reviews knocking the "cinema" displays and laugh. Don't sweat the small stuff. Amazon, this took me hours to write, and if you post all 10 paragraphs, you'll be my heros.

5excellent -- worth the money
By CS
I concur with the other reviewers, this is an excellent TV (Sony KDL-40XBR4). The picture is gorgeous, especially with HD input (1080i or 1080p). Even looks good when watching VHS tape! The only problem is that some analog tv channels just look plain bad (grainy and fuzzy). The controls are sensible, configuration and customization (e.g., input labels, picture/sound settings) are easy. The remote is a bit bigger (longer) than I'd prefer, but that's a minor quibble.Yes, possibly you'll pay more for this one than some others. And sometimes a know-it-all salesperson will tell you that X or Y has much better reviews from "experts". For my money, I always find that the Sony in the store has the best picture. On LCD vs. plasma, perhaps that's more a personal thing. But I don't find the "black level" argument in favor of plasmas particularly convincing. And I like watching 4:3 without stretching, so I'm not about to risk burn-in on a plasma. So I only considered LCDs.BTW, the EagleGL shipping service used by Amazon for this was ok. They gave us a 4 hour window and were more than an hour late, but other than that no problems. (Mine was easy -- ground floor, 10 steps from the front door. So might not apply for every case.)

5LG 47" LCD, 47LH40, A++
By E. Bertini
First thing I want to say here is that I spent 2 weeks in and out of different electronics stores, comparing technologies and brands and features to narrow down the best HDTV's in the 46-47" range. Of coarse the Sony Bravia was the #1, but it is over $[...].This TV came in on my #1, for it's 120Hz "TrueMotion" picture, and true 1080p quality. So I bought it.For three weeks now I have had the pleasure of owning this HDTV, and let me make some things straight about other reviews.1. The TrueMotion 120Hz feature is a little strange at first. What it does, is it puts a skinny Blur around the outline of an object in motion, causing that object to look LIFELIKE when it moves. This applies to people walking, trees swaying, and footballs flying. After about two days of watching, you may get used to it. I got used to it, and LOVE IT. It is now weird for me to watch other TV's without this. However, if you do not get used to it, you can turn off the TrueMotion feature and just have a 120Hz refresh rate.2. The lip-sync. The LG TV is as smart as they come. It will take about 4 hours of TV time for it to calibrate itself to your cable-box or satellite-receiver. Also, depending on your HDMI cable usage, the problem can be solved by going on Amazon.com and buying a $[...] "Digital Audio Cable" and using that for your TV sound rather than the HDMI cord. Again though, easy fix once you get to know your TV.3. The 47LH40 has smart picture capability. Which kicks Butt. My TV Room has two great big windows directly across from this TV. By enabling the Smart Picture feature ON, it will sense the light in your room, and adjust its backlight accordingly. I do NOT get any glare, and the picture is always razor sharp!4. Little-known fact, is that LG makes the TV tuners for Samsung, Sony, Sharp, and Toshiba. So naturally, they will put the best technologies in their own TVs, making it one more reason to love LG.5. It has 4 HDMI inputs! Which means virtually every component you want to connect (PS3, XBox, DVD player, Blueray, etc...) can connect with the best HD picture.6. The 80,000 : 1 contrast ratio is deeper blacks for dark-shows and movies. This is truly noticeable. I replaced my 4 year old Samsung 32" HDTV with this one, and can not believe how much this actually can be noticed once you have another TV to compare it to. My old one had 60,000:1, and deep-blacks would appear "pixelated"... but any scene, day or night, a lot or a little detail, looks just as good (or better) than it would in person! Now that I have given you a few reasons to consider this TV, I just want to say that in the past 3 weeks of me owning this, it has been nothing but excellent. My TV shows have never looked more realistic... Football and (preseason) Hockey make you feel like you are in the stands! And Video Games (PS3 specifically) make you feel part of the game. It is truly a great TV, at a great price, and I highly recommend it. Just have patience, if your lip-sync is off for the first two days, give it time to adjust, or watch the owners-CDROM they give you, you'll find out how to fix that. Everyone's cable input is different so the Tuner needs time to adjust itself.Hope this helped!

4Fantastic TV, but turn off the Trumotion
By Bret Mulvey
Beautiful, crystal clear, bright, high-contrast image. Nice price.I've seen people complain about strange blurring effects or unusual motion. That's the Trumotion technology--turn it off! My brother is an installer and he's heard of people returning LH40's because of this problem. Turn off Trumotion and the picture returns to normal. The Trumotion defect is easiest to spot in a scene with rough camera movements. I first noticed it in a scene inside a helicopter where the camera was kind of jumping around to show how rough the ride was. Instead of showing the correct scene, Trumotion, even on low, smoothed out the ride and it looked like the actors were just floating around the scene in a weird way. I turned off Trumotion and everything looked great.I guess Trumotion could have its uses, but it should be off by default. This TV also bleeds some backlighting out the back of the TV. In a dark room, when the scene goes dark, you may suddenly realize that the wall behind the TV is lit up. It's a little distracting because of that, but most of the time I never notice it.All the connectors are back-facing which makes it a little bit harder to wall-mount.Despite these issues it's a beautiful TV. Trumotion is easily turned off.

5Great Deal, Amazing picutre. Buy it!
By Jared Bergenstal
Just purchased this TV two days ago from a local home entertainment store. Got it for $1050, a steal! Since Best Buy had it for 1079, I got the price down a little more.I did lots of research and read tons of reviews. I was considering the Sony V5100 series and all of the Samsungs 650 series and up. This beats both of them. Do not listen to bad reviews about LG, none of them apply to this tv or any of LG's newer TVs, and don't compare pictures between this and other TV brands at best buy or FRYs because TV calibration can be way off at those big chain stores.I compared side by side at home entertainment stores with the Sony (way overpriced) and the Samsung 630B and 650B. The Sony is nothing special looking on the outside and the picture doesn't blow you away. The Samsung, you lose so much detail in the color because the screens are way too bright. I saw side by side the Samsung's reds were so pink and its greens so bright and fake, a red flower on the LG was dark and beautiful and you could see all of its fine lines and folds...however on the Samsung it was pink and the lines and folds faded because you lost that detail. Samsung just looks to artificial and bright for me and I don't like that. Also the LG isn't a glossy screen so you never have to worry about light reflecting from the screen. The blacks are very nice as well, I mean it isn't an LED or plasma but the average consumer cannot tell that much anymore with LCDs becoming so good. The LG was recommended by two very good home entertainment stores over the sony and the Samsung. It is just such a good deal and I liked the picture more, truer colors, very deep blacks and a classy look on the outside. Not to forget the speakers are much much better than the Samsungs, and the LG has the intelligent sensor which detects light in your room and adjusts the panel for how bright or dark you room is, to make picture calibration automatic and more accurate for the setting. It is a truly amazing TV for the money, I mean if you want to overspend for a SONY go ahead and if you want the top, top of the line, this obviously isn't your set but it is a damn good TV. I mean keep it for 4 or 5 years and then the next big thing LED or OLED will be out, so whats the point in spending $2K+ today when in a few years your TV will be old news.Go for the bargain and just get this TV, its an incredible set.

5Xbr vs Sumsung Are you looking for an LCD???
By DB
I don't usually write alot of reviews, but I did a lot of research for this tv purchase. We were upgrading our family room tv from a 35in 720p toshiba tv. We were looking at the 52 inch mark, plasma vs lcd. In a quick review make sure you consider what room you will be placing your new tv into. You are about to spend big bucks make sure you are honest about where these tvs are going or you will be unhappy!First Plasma vs LCD (This comes from my reading again at higher end plasma vs lcd at the $3000-4000 range 52in-61in)PlasmaGood-Clearly plasma edges lcd in contrast. If you are looking for the truest blacks plasma wins hands down-Long life 80000+ viewing hours-Some people complain of motion artifact in lcds. The "triple football" effect. Plasma does not seem to have this problem.-Clearly cheaper than lcd at the 46in+ mark, Significantly cheaper if looking at the 60+ inchBad-Heavy (don't think you are going to mount this baby on the wall yourself-Screen reflection (Must be in a room with low light to no light to really enjoy) Great for dedicated movie room ...family room with windows not so much.-Burn in for gamers---I think they are working on this but don't take a chanceLCDsGoodMaybe not the best for true black, but truly excellent. You won't know unless you are a cnet reviewer.Light- you can move this with your significant otherNo chance of burn inNew 120hz refresh has made ghosting football effect no longer an issueNow have big computer screen if you want to hook up a pcNo reflection from screen. Works well in rooms with lightBadIf you are looking at 60+inch tv's the price is crazy for lcd--- go get a plasma or direct viewNot the truest of blacks if you must have the truest of trueOk so that being said the sony xbr seemed like it fit the bill for me. I needed ~52inch, has to go in family room, must work with xbox/playstation. I also watch lots of football so I had to take that into consideration.Armed with this I went out looking at tv's. LCD overall fit what I was looking for and as I said unless you are making a dedicated movie room go with lcd. As a note sony believes in lcd tech so much they stopped making plasma screens! Don't know if this is all that but sony usually knows their business. So going out looking at 52 inch lcds you will run into a few choices---Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, and Sharp.Quickly I will note that toshiba and sharp are on the lower end. Less contrast, less hdmi inputs etc...however are usually less money! So be sure to look, but overall the samsung and sony tvs are far superior for a few hundred extra. So if you are reading this you are clearly looking at the xbr sonys. It really came down for me to Sony xbr4 vs the Samsung 71 series. These are really close or even almost the same tvs. The sony xbr4 has 3hdmi, 1:13000 contrast, and 120hz. The samsung 71 also 3hdmi, 120hz, but 1-25000 contrast. The contrast generally considered the amount of true black from the screen. Overall I would say that gave the edge to the samsung and if you read reviews you will see people raving about the samsung vs the sony xbr. However! and this is a big however! Samsung coats their lcd's with a coating that does have a moderate amount of reflection. I have no idea why as this killed it for me. And I am serious that you need to think about the lights in your room. If you have any windows or lights if front of the tv that is what you will be seeing in a plasma or samsung. It will drive you nuts! There is no NO reflection from the xbr4. So ultimately I purchased the xbr4 from amazon. The picture is amazing from my hd tivo to bluray, hd dvd, and standard is well standard. Although numbers say the samsung is better in the real world you will not notice the difference. So I am happy to say this is a five star tv.Also of note:Sony offers the xbr5 version of this tv. $400 for a piano gloss black rim. Not worth it to me for plastic.Samsung also offers an 81 series, with 1:500000, and increased backlights. They are about 1G more than the 71 series and xbrs and if you are looking at high end plasmas, I would take a look at these too. However, same reflective coat.Decide this isn't for you and want to go plasma... Well I looked at that too. Stick to Panasonic and Pioneer and you can't go wrong. Pioneer kuros hands down the best plasma to date!!!!Good luckPS-----I didn't have any problems with amazon white glove. TV was purfect. I was called and two guys unpacked with no problem, even helped move the other tv.

5A Great Sony LCD-TV!
By Curtis Bard
I love Amazon for allowing these reviews, they could censor them to edit out info about other companies and competing sources, but they don't. These reviews have helped me immeasurably in choosing the right TV and other items, so I'm posting this so others can likewise be helped by my experience. We researched LCDs and Plasma TVs for one whole year, and we agree with most other reviewers who report that the new Samsung and Sony 46" and 52" LCD-TVs are the best. Up to this point Consumer Reports had placed the 50" Panasonic at number 1, but that is last years models. I'm confident that when they rate all the new models this and other Sony and Samsungs will be at the top of the list.We visually compared all the latest models and every time we found the same thing: that the best HD picture was with the Sony (#1) and the Samsung (#2). The Sony had slightly better clarity and sharpness and color, and sound, and the Samsung had slightly brighter whites. We even created our own little weighted feature comparison chart, and when cost was considered, these two makes came out almost exactly the same. You can tell by the reviews that many more people purchase (the 46" & 52") Samsung instead of the Sony. That is because the Samsung costs so much less, and goes on sale at a higher discount. The Sony is the best of the two, but the Samsung is the best value because of the price. We even compared them with the 50" Panasonic and the highly respected Kuro Pioneer 50" sets, and the Sony and Samsung came out ahead.Conventional wisdom says that Plasma TVs have better market share, prices, blacks, contrast, and are generally speaking a little better than LCD TVs, but when comparing these two LCD brands (Samsung & Sony) with various Plasmas in regard to overall color, contrast, brightness, and clarity, our opinion is that the Plasmas have now met their match, and then some when all aspects of HD-TVs are considered. Some reviewers have said that the automatic volume control (IMHO, a much needed feature) does not work on the Samsungs or on the Sonys. I can't confirm that this is true in regard to the Sony, because we use the Sony with a surround sound (Onkyo) system which automatically disables the TV speakers and the Steady Sound feature which only works when the TV speakers are being used.last years TVs (even the Sonys) had relatively poor Standard Definition, but the newer 120 hz models with the faster refresh rate have excellent HD quality and VERY good SD quality. Some people like a glossy screen (like glossy photos) it seems to make the picture look deeper or better, but if you have a lot of light or windows in your TV room, then the Sony is for you. It has a coating that almost makes reflection a non-issue. And the Sony backlight automatically adjusts itself in bright / dark rooms. We bought Onkyo HT-SP908 7.1 Channel Home Theater System, speaker stands, a Playstation 3 to play Blu-ray HD DVDs, a couple of the recommended Monster 1000 HDMI cables, and a wall bracket to mount the TV on the wall later. So if you want the BEST PICTURE without regard to price- buy the SONY. If you want the BEST VALUE for your money - buy the SAMSUNG!

5Very, very good TV
By Demon3
I previously owned a Samsung 46 inch LCD with 720p resolution and sold that to get something bigger and better. I mention that to set the context that I am used to HD TV and the picture quality.I was not expecting that the picture would be noticeably better than a TV from last year but I was wrong. Having looked at every 52 inch LCD and many 46 inch LCDs it was clear that this and the Samsung 120Hz TV are the best at the moment. I went for this Sony and I am thrilled at how great the picture is. On HD TV it is very satisfying. Running off an HD DVD player (yes 1080p), the picture is breathtaking. The Planet Earth HD DVDs are incredible (the BBC full version). If you are hesitating as I was then I can only say that if you take the plunge and buy this then there will be no regrets regarding picture quality. The Samsung is also superb. If you see no difference between the picture on this in the store and something cheaper then save your money.-update- after 3 months I am equally stunned by the picture, this is one of the best purchases I have ever made. To see a breathtaking image quality try Hot Fuzz on HD DVD.
