5Great LCD TV
By Thoreau Bartman
When my old 36 inch CRT finally went bust I was ready to upgrade to a flat panel. And after a ton of research I settled on this one. And I think I made a great choice. From what I have read, it doesn't seem to make much of a difference actually checking out the TVs in the stores because their settings are way off etc etc. This TV was picked as the second best LCD (behind the much more expensive sony) by the CNET editors, and from everything I was able to track down this new TV looked like a winner. So I just bought online from amazon without actually seeing it in person. Which turned out great! The delivery company (eagle) was very fast and nice (although I did call them and they did NOT have my number-very glad I called). They came in and helped me set it up, and even helped me move my old enormous one out of the way.The TV is beautiful! HD programming is simply amazing. Just amazing. I have never seen something this nice on TV before. DVDs look just ok compared to it. Like on all HD tvs, standard defintion programming and DVDs don't look quite as good as on my old CRT, but it is very close. The connectivity is great, (even better than the devices I am connecting it to actually). The glossy black finish is pretty cool-although it does get dusty pretty fast. And the surround sound is darn good as well. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. The only problem I have found so far is that occasionally the sound will go out for some reason. If I change input sources or turn the TV off and then on again it comes back, but still-it is a concern.UPDATE!The sound problem was bugging me, and I eventually called samsung customer service. After a few fruitless merry go rounds I was finally directed to something called "Tier 2" customer service. Apparently this sound drop out problemis a known issue with this TV, and they have a very easy firmware update fix. They are overnighting me a thumbdrive with the updated firmware and said that it would entirely fix the sound problem. I think it is pretty cool that they are going so far as to send me an actual thumbdrive with the firmware on it because I don't have one already.I am very happy with this fix, but will report back if there are any other problems. I am still absolutely loving the TV, despite this sound problem.

5One of the best TVs for the money right now...
By P. Werdel
After months of research about brand, screen size, screen type, and resolution, I settled on this 720p LCD from Samsung. Don't believe the hype about 1080p sets at this size: it is absolutely the case that at this size (40 inch) the difference between the look of 720p and 1080p signals are negligible at the viewing distance most people will sit from their sets (6-10ft). Do yourself a favor and save some cash, unless you absolutely must have the newest tech toy. Me? I'd rather put the $500 toward a pair of speakers that look and sound the part next to this marvelous LCD.Colors are rich, sharp, and with no noticeable ghosting or pixelation. I've heard some folks complain about the hidden speakers sounding muddled, or uninspiring. With a bit of EQ tuning I think they sound fantastic for on-board speakers.Ordered from Amazon on a Monday evening with free shipping (and at $500 less than retail in BB or Circuit City!). The set was at my door by Wednesday afternoon. Unbelievable! No complaints. This is a gorgeous set at a fantastic price.

4One major flaw mars an otherwise excellent TV
By B. Toy
I've spent the last 2 months shopping TVs both online and in-store. I ended up picking this unit as my bedroom TV and am supremely happy with its performance. The pros:Plasma was out because my bedroom is bright and I needed the anti-glare surface of an LCD. LCDs are also lighter so I could handle moving it around myself. It feels lighter than the ~40 pounds it's supposed to weigh.Lots of inputs including 3 (count 'em) HDMI connections. I have an HD Tivo and upconverting DVD player hooked up and still have a spare HDMI port. It's also got 2 sets of component video if you have HD equipment from a couple years ago. There are more inputs that I won't bother listing here since you can get the list elsewhere.Visual quality is stunning with HD signals. 720p and 1080i look amazing though I'd give the nod to 720p for slightly better image quality. High quality standard def signals still look very good. Poor quality signals look worse than you'd expect from a CRT based TV. I sit ~8 feet from the TV (I like the immersion) and barely notice the compression artifacts. I'd rate the noise performance at a very good 8 on a 10 scale. I wouldn't pay the premium for 1080p unless the screen size was encroaching on 60".The included stand swivels. I used to have my 36" Sony Wega Trinitron on a turntable so the included swivel stand is a really nice addition. The high gloss, "piano black" finish isn't as obnoxious as I thought it might be. It also doesn't pick up fingerprints the way I expected. The cons:Switching inputs is painfully slow. Especially when switching to the HDMI connections. The HDMI and component inputs are "on" as long as a cable is plugged in, even if the device is off. So when I want to pass through my DVD player (which is off) to get to my HD Tivo (which is always on). I have to wait for it to scan for a signal, realize it's not detected, and then tell me so on screen before I can move on to the next HDMI input. You can select from the main setup menu, but it takes about as much time as it does to cycle through. For this many inputs, I wish they used the Toshiba method and put up an input menu whenever you hit the source button. Direct input selection buttons on the remote would have been ideal. The stand does have a tendency to lean a couple degrees forward. I'm not concerned, but it's not as sturdy feeling as I'd have liked. It produces as much heat as my 36" Sony CRT did.The picture-in-picture was an afterthought. It doesn't have enough options to be useful. Since I have an HD Tivo and the cable set-top-box, I'd like to be able to set one for HDMI and one for component video. Unfortunately, it only shows me the built-in tuner for the in-set window. My parents have a 15 year-old Mitsubishi that let you select any combination of inputs for PIP.I've had the sound drop-out issue twice over the last week. I'm waiting on Samsung to send me the updated firmware.Bottom line:If it weren't for the incredibly frustrating input selection, I'd consider giving it 5 stars. But this peformance issue is enough to withhold that last star.

4Excellent picture and relatively good sound too.
By Peter
(This review is for the Toshiba Regza 40XV645U LCD television.)Original rating:If price were no object: 4-Star RatingPrice considering: 5-Star RatingUpdate 29Jul2010 (see below):Following the replacement of the Main Board, I now give this TV a 5-star overall rating.Update 15Jul2011 (see below):The Closed Captioning is definitely a problem with this model, and reduced the rating to 4 stars.Original review:This is a great TV! All of us in the family really like it. Even the piano black narrow frame around the screen looks great (about 1.5" wide at the top and sides and 3" at the bottom). Even though the frame is a glossy black finish, it surprisingly doesn't disturb the daytime viewing experience at all.We wanted a second TV in our home for a brightly lit room and we were also limited to a 40-inch screen size because of available space, so we ended up choosing the Toshiba Regza 40XV645U LCD TV. (Also see my review of the Pioneer PDP-5080HD Plasma TV in August 2007, if you are interested).Because of our requirements for our second TV to have a bright picture and not to be sensitive to burning-in issues, we decided on an LCD TV. We compared the Toshiba 40XV645U to the following currently locally available 40-inch LCD (and LED backlit) TVs:Samsung LN40B610 / LN40B650 / UN40B6000 / UN40B7000;Sony KDL-40Z5100 / KDL-40XBR9;Toshiba 40RV525R / 42ZV650U; andLG 42LH30 / 42LH40 / 42LH55 / 42LH70.When price was considered, no other TV came close to the Toshiba 40XV645U. Absolutely nothing else! We did not want a shiny, glossy screen (we were afraid of daytime reflections), so many of the above sets were eliminated because of that. The Toshiba ZV650U has a very nice but glossy, reflective screen and cost $1,500 CAD at the time. The RV525R does not have the 120Hz frame rate or the Resolution+ feature. With the XV645U you can turn the frame rate On (120Hz) or Off (60Hz) (we leave it On all the time) - called the ClearFrame feature in the Owner's Manual (you can download a PDF copy from Toshiba.ca before you buy the TV). Also the sound on the RV525R is inferior to that on the XV645U. And the RV525R actually cost more than the XV645U on that day!We were very impressed with the high-contrast Samsung B650, B6000 and B7000 models at first, and they also have a 1-Tuner Picture-in-Picture (PIP) feature, but the highly reflective glossy screen (Ultra Clear Panel), very poor detail in black images (Samsung is famous for "crushing" their blacks), and triple the cost (for the B6000 and B7000), made us dismiss these sets. The Samsung B610 was not bad, but still had the black-detail problems, and the actual colour richness and backlight strength visibly looked better to us on the Toshiba XV645U (and at the time the Toshiba cost $950 CAD vs. $1,500 CAD for the B610). But the Toshiba XV645U does not have PIP, which we do miss (we especially like to watch Split Screen images - available on the Samsungs only). In our opinion, the Sony Z5100 is a much better value than the XBR9 ($2,000 CAD vs. $2,700 CAD at the time), and we really couldn't see any improvement in either the picture quality or the sound by upgrading to the XBR9.The LH30 and LH40 LG models definitely did not look as good in the showroom as the Toshiba XV645U (lack of depth in white and black colours) and also cost a little more. The LG LH55 and LH70 both have glossy screens and cost about 50% more than the Toshiba. LG too has problems with image details in black. In addition, the viewing angles were quite poor with the LG models. And we were also worried about servicing issues with the LGs (we were warned by some sales persons). At the end, it came down to deciding between the Toshiba XV645U (at $950 CAD) and the Sony Z5100 (at $2,000 CAD). (I know, it sounds a little funny that we were deciding between these two sets at the end with prices such wide apart, but the Sony Z5100 series looks that good!) Details in black (for example, wrinkles or pinstripes on a black jacket) were best displayed on the Sony Z5100 of any TVs we've looked at. We really liked the picture, sound, and some of the other features (like the TV Guide On Screen) on the Sony, but the small improvement in these items just did not justify the huge price difference. However, surprisingly, the black and white contrast ratio is a little better (i.e., deeper) on the Toshiba XV645U! And you can even see this difference in a side-by-side comparison. This is really strange since the Sony has a claimed 100,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio whereas the Toshiba's is only 50,000:1. (I suspect the Toshiba XV645U must have a higher Static Contrast Ratio than the Sony Z5100.) But if money were no object, the Sony KDL-40Z5100 would certainly be the winner among the TVs we've looked at.Impressions with the Toshiba 40XV645U:To get a great picture, we set the Backlight to maximum (+50) and adjusted some of the other settings to our personal preference. We also keep the Resolution+ setting at the maximum to give us a clear and defined image. This feature actually works and we are very impressed with it for watching standard definition analog cable channels. There are lots of available adjustments on this TV to keep you busy for a long time or you can just select the default, factory setting. When the XV645U is turned off, the screen is dark black. This is a good indication that the TV is able to reproduce deep black colours. On some other TVs, when the set is turned off, the screen looks kind of charcoal, or dark gray, instead of black. This Toshiba's screen is absolutely a perfect blend of high-gloss and dull-matte. It is shiny enough for great contrast and matte enough that you will not get distracting reflections. I have not seen a screen coating this perfect on any other LCD (or even LED) TV. I mean on any TV, whether it is a Samsung, Panasonic, Sony, LG, or Sharp. So off-angle viewing on the XV645U is quite good, but not nearly as good as plasma TVs.The sound is just okay, but many people will hook up their TV to an amplifier with external speakers (we haven't yet). The sound volume is very good (we listen to the TV at level 20-25 out of a 100). The built-in speakers face downward, toward the floor (at least what I can tell from the location of speaker grille openings). You can hear the dialogue all right, even in a large room while people are talking in the room, but you will get occasional resonance (and a little distortion too) when the volume is kept above a level of 25 (the TV has some problems with reproducing Bass levels). There is also a Voice Enhancement feature (On or Off) that emphasizes dialogue over the music you hear - yes, it does help a little bit. The StableSound feature (On or Off) is supposed to keep the volume level the same from channel to channel (I couldn't tell). But the Dynamic Range Control (On or Off) is very effective and we leave it On all the time. To our ears, turning other Advanced Sound Settings On, like the Dynamic Bass Boost, just seemed to distort the speakers a little more at higher volume levels. The Analog Closed Caption (set on CC1 text) has a very small font size when compared to our Pioneer TV, but the letters are all in capital and nicely spread apart, so they are legible. One benefit of the smaller size is that the Closed Captioning covers up less area of the screen. Not only that, but when you enlarge letter box programs (to fill the screen) on this Toshiba, parts of the Closed Captioning text doesn't disappear at the bottom of the screen like with our Pioneer TV! But there is no direct CC button on the Remote, so you'll have to go into the Menu Settings to turn this feature on or off when you want to. However, when you press the Mute button twice (the first press lowers the Volume to one-half), Closed Captioning is automatically activated. Closed Captioning is not available for the three HDMI Inputs, unless that feature is encoded in the DVD (under language options). The TV is very slow changing channels. When using the Channel Up and Down button, there is a delay of about 3 seconds to display the next channel (already too long), but when you punch in a Channel Number using the number buttons, there is a much longer delay (about 6 seconds). However, you can cut this time in half if you press the Enter button right after the Channel Number. Turning the TV on can be slow or fast, depending on how you set your Power-Up Mode option in the Setup Menu screen. But switching Input Sources is very fast using a single scroll button for all choices.Overall, I highly recommend this Toshiba TV. It is an excellent value and the picture quality is fantastic. We can get a really clear and sharp image on analog broadcast (we do not subscribe to Digital or High Definition Channels) after some Picture adjustments (even without accessing the Expert Mode under the Advanced Picture Settings menu). Okay, so we can't get the same colour depth and accuracy as with the Pioneer plasma, no matter how much we try to adjust the Picture, but you will not go wrong with this TV overall. Excellent high contrast, non-glare, super clear picture! One bonus we've noticed with this Toshiba is that during the Auto Tuning Setup, the TV also picked up some Audio Only Digital Channels (from our analog cable service) through which we can listen to radio stations. And the Toshiba's speakers even sound a little better on these digital channels! Our much more expensive Pioneer plasma can't access these music channels at all (as far as we can tell). One last thing: If you want to install this Toshiba on a wall, it needs a Vesa 200 x 400 mm plate (screw holes located at the corners of a 7.87-inch by 15.75-inch rectangle). Many of the available wall mounting arms don't accommodate that size and you will need to find or make an adapter for it.Update on 29Jul2010: The Closed Captioning feature stopped working around 3 weeks ago - no display of any text. Since the TV was still under the one-year warranty (nearly 11 months into it), we called Toshiba and they put us through the usual disconnect the TV from its power source and allow it to reset itself. This did not solve the problem, so they referred us to the local authorized service shop. A service man came over the next day and examined the set, to make sure the problem is really with the TV and not just us not knowing how to turn the Closed Captioning On. He ordered a new circuit board and in less than 2 weeks later, came back and replaced the old one with the new board for free in our home. The original board had a software version dating back to May 2009. The new board shows a newer, higher version number software of September 2009 (version 6.1.42.0). Interestingly, the speakers have more fullness to them now and the picture is more colourful too. A nice improvement to an already great TV! This Toshiba 40XV645U TV now deserves a 5-star rating. After all this time, we are still very impressed with this TV (and even more so now) and can highly recommend it with confidence. The picture quality is excellent - the blacks are black with great detail and the picture is very clear and vibrant. And we are still watching only standard definition analog TV broadcasts on this set! The sound is very good too for a flat panel TV. Even today, with all the newer LED TVs available, there is not one other TV out there with such a great picture and perfect screen finish - not too shiny and not too matte. And this TV has a truly excellent Tuner too. It is too bad Toshiba no longer makes or sells this model.Update on 15Jul2011: The Closed Captioning feature stopped working AGAIN around a week ago. Our current software version is 6.1.42.0 dated 08SEP2009 and came with the replaced motherboard on 29JUL2010. I have read that there are Closed Captioning problems even with software version 6.1.45.0, so this is a definite defect with this model. To replace the motherboard again would cost us around $600 ($400 for the motherboard, plus $155 for in-shop installation, plus taxes), so we are not going to fix this problem. Toshiba will not repair it under warranty because the TV is now 23 months old.But among LCD and even LED TVs, the picture is still one of the best on the 40XV645, so we are very happy with that.

3Toshiba Regza 40'' 120Hz 1080p - A Contender
By A. Verbovetskaya
I have owned this TV for a few months now and feel that I know it well enough to give it a thorough review. Why I purchased this TV over all the others is worth mentioning. First, and foremost, the price is very attractive at first glance. And, it continue to be an attraction after looking at the reviews of other TVs that cost about the same. I almost bought a Panasonic plasma TV that was, at the time, only $100 more than this TV but was a full 10 inches bigger and had an outstanding review on Cnet. Forty inches was simply more suited for my living space.Let's look at some of the positive aspects of this TV.1. 120Hz technology is a plus for those who like it. With that said, using de-judder technology is an acquired taste and is potentially a detriment to picture quality as it may introduce unnatural artifacts. This Toshiba Regza has three options for de-judder - off, standard, and smooth. I find that using the standard de-judder creates a balance between improving picture quality and with avoiding artifacts. However, for blu-ray media, I use the smooth option since artifacts are harder to notice as resolution goes up.2. Physical Build and AppearanceThis TV is a traditional black build with a very matte screen. The Toshiba logo comes set to light up when the TV is powered on but this can be turned off in the settings menu. This TV looks very clean and makes use of a minimalist approach. The matte screen works wonderfully at.. being matte. It doesn't reflect light. In fact, I can only barely see faint reflections when the room is well lit and the TV is turned off.3. Picture QualityThis TV supports up to 1080p resolution and does it well. 720p programming looks outstanding and clear while 1080p looks even better. While is has some drawbacks in the video quality, overall it is a good performer in high-def.4. Settings and MenusTo some this may seem like a trivial aspect when shopping for a new TV when there are so many other features to take into account. This TV is a good example of how the quality of the menus can be a huge deal. There are several pre-determined settings for each particular kind of media: standard for typical programming; Movie for when the light level in the room is dim; Sports for high contrast and increased backlight; Game mode which has higher than normal contrast and turns off de-judder completely; and lastly Autoview which I never use. Ever. That is because the pre-set modes are already very well done and offer a great deal of options for fine-tuning the picture. You can actively change things like the level of dynamic contrast, and several other features that promise to improve picture quality such as noise reduction. It also has an abundance of color-correction options that go far beyond temperature.I should also mention that as you change the active input to the TV, the settings for each input are saved. For example, if my Playstation 3 is set to HDMI 1 and is currently using some customized settings on Movie mode, it will be saved as such allowing me to freely change inputs without any fuss. Now let's look at the negatives that will be encountered with this TV.1. Standard Definition Picture QualityThe Hi-def quality of this TV is very good but the standard definition quality is only OK and, at times, is rather poor. Clarity and noise are the biggest problems but are never bad enough to intrude on the viewing experience. High-def does have some noise even with blu-ray media but somewhat rare. The de-juddering feature is prone to create artifacts in standard definition especially when using the highest level. I use standard without any problems.2. Color AccuracyThe colors on this TV are relatively nice but are definitely not perfect. Skin tones range from being too pale to being too red. The black levels are also not as deep and black as they should be. Depending on the picture settings like brightness and backlight strength, the black can look superb. Overall, the color accuracy can be inaccurate but is always only slightly off. This can be easily addressed with the plethora of color correction features that come included.3. Backlight UniformityBacklight uniformity is referring to how even the backlight brightness is all around the screen. This Toshiba Regza has very noticeable unevenness in backlight brightness around the corners which are much brighter than the center of the screen. I can easily notice this during most viewing sessions regardless of media type and viewing mode. Strangely enough, this actually comes and goes so it's not always there. To summarize, the Toshiba Regza is a quality TV that boasts a great deal of features with its share of shortcomings. At the price, this is a great deal for anyone interested in a TV with de-judder technology. It comes with everything you would expect and maybe some basic features you didn't.

5No Buyer's Remorse Here
By Rususeruru
So far this set has very pleasing. My only complaint is the clunky remote control which has a physical switch to change modes (TV, Cable/Sat, AV1, AV2). The set has 3 HDMI inputs which is nice though many in this price range seem to have 4.During initial set-up the set asks a few questions most of which are basic like if the set will be connected to antenna or cable before automatically scanning and adding channels. The first question though is unusual. It prompts for whether the set will be used in a home or as a store display. Selecting home reduces the backlight to 50% power though this can be adjusted later through the video configuration menu. The set also features advances picture controls many of which I have not had time adjust but should provide enough control to satisfy any one who considers themselves a video guru. Also this TV features basic audio controls (treble bass & balance) as well as features like stable sound, voice enhancing, and bass boost so the control over audio is pleasing.I chose this set for two reasons. I have a standard-def Toshiba set that I've always liked the picture on and the Toshiba HDTV's don't seem to create (or maybe they have the ability to correct) some artifacts on some HD content.I was considering another brand, but I had an opportunity to watch Planet Earth on a set with spec's similar to this one and noticed the other brand displayed artifacts when a subject (bird) was moving rapidly across a solid color field (sky). I watched the same clip on an older Toshiba Regza model a member of my family owned and didn't see the artifacts so I chose to stick with Toshiba and have noticed no artifacts on similar video with this set.Bottom line: I'm very pleased with this TV

5Very impressive
By M. Bentley
Ordered on Monday night and received on Thursday with FREE shipping from TigerDirect! The box showed a weight of 50 lbs which is pretty light for a 47" flat panel. The picture and colors are really excellent. I'm too cheap to spend $300 on a Blu player but Time Warner HD and standard DVD's look very nice. Can I say the image is better then an LG, Sharp, Samsung etc?? I think with any one of those brands, I'd probably be saying the same thing. Toshiba quality is hard to beat and I really wanted the USB/SD card slot for showing pictures. I've played MP3's from my thumbdrive and even viewed some AVI files. The JPEG picture display from my memory stick was excellent but their 'browser' seems to be a little buggy because now I'm having some trouble trying to get it to recognize the image files again.PROS:Not too heavyUSB/SD card slot (for JPEG, MP3, AVI etc)4 HDMISwivel standBeautiful colors & pictureCONS:may need a firmware update for the picture browserthis is not a 'narrow bezel' model6-1-09: I'm a bit disappointed because the picture viewer from an SD card or USB flashdrive still does not work. I've contacted Toshiba and they say they are 'still working on it'. If you go into the store to buy one of these, take a thumbdrive (or SD card) and test this out first.

5Excellect TV and value
By Joe D
I'm a little puzzled by some of the comments appearing in other reviews regarding the TV's size and bezel width. I don't know what other folks are measuring, but the Lagoon style framing is not particularly wide and the TV measured with a tape measure is 46" outside to outside horizontally, the diagonal is 47" viewing area.As a TV plugged into an HDTV cable box, the unit came up and set up in a couple of minutes on component or HDMI connection. The image is very bright, clear and colors are vivid. The CrystalCoat high contrast screen coating does a great job of killing reflections even in a room that has a good deal of natural daylight sreaming in through lots of windows. On HDTV, the screen is completely filled with no odd bars, lines or other distractions.I've added a Sony 589W DVD and sound system with wireless rear speakers. It was inexpensive, but the wireless rear speaker sound is clean, no problems with other networks and other devices in the house degrading sound. Where Sony likes to ignore equipment manufactured by other companies, the Toshiba easily connects to and controls the Sony receiver. When watching DVD's or TV the combination of the two perform admirably. My TV was manufactured in March and had a firmware bug that triggers the quick set up dialog box every time the set is powered on. The work around is to disconnect the cable box, connect cale directly to the TV and let it auto program channels. After this, the TV will start without the quick set up prompt. I called Toshiba and they sent a firmware update on a USB drive that plugs into the TV and auto updates the firmware and also fixes the problem.Consistent with other reviews, delivery took literally a few days by general freight, the package was in perfect condition as were the contents. We are very happy with the product and Amazon. If there is one thing I would like to see added to the product, it would be an optional extended warranty. I know other companies offer these types of products, but there would be more peace of mind if offered by the manufacturer.

5Toshiba Back in The Race
By HowardM
I purchased this TV from Amazon last week. Shipping was fast, less then a week (including the weekend). The TV was well packaged, but shame on Toshiba for not making it one of those boxes where you basically lift the top of the box off the TV and its just sitting on the bottom base of the box for easy removal. The TV itself is amazing looking. I actually went to Best Buy and checked it out before ordering, and it was sitting in-between a bunch of Sony's and Samsung's and I actually thought the picture looked better then both of those brands. Though its hard to tell at these retail stores since they usually get paid to hook the expensive TV's up to a Blu-Ray player and the cheaper TV's up to the cheapest cable/source they can find.So far I've used my Xbox 360, my Blu-Ray Player, my Wii and Digital Cable on this TV and everything so far looks awesome. There is no lag at all while gaming. The TV has a mode for gaming, but honestly I couldn't tell it made any difference because the games looked great on all of the modes.HD Cable looked great, watched some hockey, no ghosting or jittering at all. I've never owned a 120hz LCD let a long a 240hz, so I can't compare the two, but its definitely better then the old 60hz LCDs.I only own 1 Blu-Ray movie (Beowulf) but watching it on this TV connected to my Sony Blu-Ray player it looked amazing. Regular DVD's upscaled on this player to 1080p also looked amazing.Standard cable looked ok, Toshiba claims Resolution+ up scales regular TV to higher quality, but I'm not really convinced. Though I really haven't watched enough standard def to truly judge. The TV is very light, I think it weights about 50 pounds with the stand. I love the swivel base and the connections all seem to be layed out nicely, I also like that it has both a USB and SD slot on the side. The deep lagoon border around the bezel is interesting it almost gives it a 3d look, I think it would look a lot cooler mounted on the wall, but mines just sitting on a stand. My only real con about this TV is the size. Its a 47 inch but the bezel is large, bringing it almost to 52 inches when measured horizontally.I've only had this TV for 3 days now, but I can honestly say it looks like Toshiba has finally gotten back in the game and launched a nicely priced and highly competitive TV to the market.

5High style and high performance
By Chambolle
I will admit up front that I am a complete HDTV newbie. I hung on to a 20 year old, 22 inch CRT color "monitor television" for far too long, in part because I do not watch much television programming (a bit of baseball, PBS, occaisional Law & Order reruns, that sort of thing) and in part because the whole HDTV techno nerd thing was too intimidating. After much online research and a few surreptitious visits to Big Box electronics stores, I finally settled on the 40XBR9 and bought it from an Amazon seller -- and could not be more pleased with my selection. The picture quality is simply riveting. The menus are reasonably user friendly and I have not found it all that difficult to calibrate for optimum results in a softly lighted room. With minor tweaking, the factory defaults work well for most cable television programming. I used the CNET suggested calibration for movies on the 52XBR9, and it works very well on this 40 inch unit. This is a beautiful television. The bezel is as slim as they come and is an unadorned, moderately glossy black. While it is not a small television, it is not too overbearing for a medium sized bedroom or office. Considering its slender bezel, and the fact that there are no visible speakers, the sound is more than adequate for watching most TV programming. I purchased a ZVOX 525 sound base and an OPPO blu ray player to go with it. I have yet to watch a blu ray disc, but upscaled DVDs like Ratatouille and Wall-E are incredibly crisp, vivid and detailed, with wonderfully natural color, deep, pure blacks and brilliant whites and grey tones. With sound from the ZVOX, this is a wonderful way to enjoy movies in a moderate sized room without an enormous investment of time and money and without a lot of wiring and equipment monopolizing the space. The one down side is that the XBR9 is not very forgiving of poor quality source material. My local cable provider still offers a limited selection of true HD content. SD television does not fare well on this set, although with some tweaks you can get acceptable picture quality -- ratchet down the sharpness so the poor resolution is not obvious, use a 4:3 aspect ratio rather than 'stretch' the image to fill the screen, so the perspective is not distorted, turn down the brightness and restrict the color range to avoid the exaggerated and artificial hues that seem to be part and parcel of SD TV, and you get a reasonable picture on par with a decent CRT. But once you've seen good quality 16:9 HDTV content, you will be somewhat disappointed with SD sources. This competes head to head with the high end LCD and "LED" TVs from Samsung. I think it beats them for at least two reasons. First, the Samsung models have a very glossy, "wet look" screen, which is really a distraction. Under some conditions, it gives the picture more "pop," but except in a darkened room, the glare problem is insurmountable. Second, the comparable Samsung televisions have wider and more obtrusive bezels with a brilliant piano black finish, which is made even more garish by Samsung's somewhat ludicrous red "Touch of Color" gimmickry. The Samsung design is like over the top prom wear. The 40XBR9 is the electronics version of the perfect, simple and refined little black dress.Prices seem to fluctuate wildly -- the prices quoted on the date of this review are about 15% higher than they were when I made my purchase ten days ago. You may want to keep an eye on the market and catch the next wave of "sales." But you won't buy this TV because it is an inexpensive "bargain" -- you may buy it because dollar for dollar, it will give you the most pleasure during the years it will be in service.TWO MONTHS LATER: Having now had the opportunity to use my Sony 40XBR9 to watch post-season baseball in HD, as well as a number of blu-ray discs, I remain as pleased with my purchase as ever. This has transformed the way we watch movies and cable programming at home. I added a Harmony One remote to the system to avoid the remote control shuffle required to operate the blu-ray player, Zvox, cable box and Sony in tandem. It all works nicely and with a minimum of effort.

5After months of research, happy at last!
By tasty donuts
PROS: terrific picture, surprisingly good sound, sleek design, effective anti-glare coating, nifty PS3 integrationCONS: compromised off-angle color, no swivel stand, so-so internet functionality, no Wi-FiBACKGROUND: For months, I had been researching 40-46" flat panels to upgrade a 32" Panasonic LCD in the living room (now in the bedroom). Prior to that, I had a 34" Sony WEGA XBR beast (200 lbs) from my bachelorhood days that had to go due to space constraints in our apartment. The Panasonic was purchased in mid-'08 ($580) as a stop-gap until the higher-end LCD's came down in price. But then, our friends got us a PlayStation 3 and Blu-Ray discs for our birthdays, which meant that my wife could enjoy her favorite romantic comedies in full 1080p HD glory, and I could pick up video games again (specifically Call of Duty: MW2)... all of which meant moving up our new-TV timeline!I decided to look at Sony models first, as I had helped a family member pick out a Sony 40W4100 earlier and it turned out to be an excellent TV. I compared them against the Samsung 6-series and 7-series LCD's as well as the Panasonic 42G10 plasma. Though plasma is still superior to LCD in many respects, the lack of flicker-free 24p support on the 42" Panasonics was a deal breaker. LED backlight technology was tempting, but the cost is still prohibitive and the edge-lit models have their issues. I also admit to having some brand bias - I have not had good first or second-hand experiences with Samsung products. Don't get me wrong, in many ways their TVs are comparable or even superior to Sony's, but I still see too many reports of random bugs and reliability issues for my tastes. Besides, I've always felt Samsung pictures to look "boosted" and a little fake in the showroom, and my attempts to calibrate them (admittedly by eye) were never that fruitful.I found the Sony Z and XBR9 series to provide the balance of performance, features, and aesthetics I was looking for. (I considered the W5100, but wanted the newest Bravia Engine 3 which purportedly has improved processing.) The biggest obstacle was price - with so many 40" options under $1k, it was difficult to justify the premium. But I waited and found a terrific package deal on the 40XBR9 just before X-mas, netting me an unbelievable price on the set - cheaper than the Z or even W models!PICTURE QUALITY: As expected from a top-of-the-line Sony, the picture quality is excellent, with rich but realistic color, smooth motion and reasonably dark blacks. If you turn off the fake dynamic contrast as you should, the blacks aren't quite to plasma or LED-backlit standards, but it's still very good (at least 10x better than our Panasonic); only when watching off-angle or in a completely darkened room do I notice the blacks being on the bright side, and when properly adjusted there's little or no "black crush," where anything dark in a scene automatically becomes black. (Samsungs are often adjusted to have black crush to look more contrasty in the showroom - don't fall for it, it's a trick!)There have been complaints of clouding and sparkle artifacts with Sony LCDs, but I see absolutely no sparkling in my set, and if there's clouding (as all LCDs have to some degree) I really don't notice it. Cable programming like HBO HD looks great, PS3 games and Blu-Rays fantastic, and standard-def material isn't too bad either - very watchable, as long as you're not expecting miracles. The picture quality upgrade over the Sony W4100 isn't enormous, but it is noticeable, with deeper, more accurate colors, smoother motion and fewer artifacts. Though the 240Hz MotionFlow still looks a little fake for my tastes, the Bravia Engine 3 is visibly improved over the older Bravia 2 engine. Even if you're not going to spring for an XBR, definitely try to get a model with Bravia Engine 3.FAVORITE FEATURES: Hallelujah, the screen has an anti-glare matte finish instead of the dreaded gloss on so many Samsungs, so glare is really well-controlled - we have no problem viewing with lots of daylight flooding in from a side window. The TV boots up quickly, with picture coming up normally within several seconds, and very little delay acquiring signals or switching resolutions. The PlayStation 3 integration is pretty neat - turn the PS3 on, and the TV automatically turns on; if it's already on, it switches to the right input. Once on, you can navigate the PS3 menu and control video playback through the TV's remote control. When you turn the PS3 off, the TV returns to your previous input. Fully customizable input labels are a nice touch that every TV should include. The side-mounted input jacks seemed odd to me at first, but they actually work really well - they are sufficiently concelead but allow a shallower wall mount as well as easier access. The internet widgets are mostly curiosities, but YouTube worked great, and Netflix/Amazon streaming are useful if imperfect (more on this later).SOUND QUALITY: Most importantly to us (as we don't have a home theater), the sound from the built-in speakers is really excellent. It's reasonably full, with a natural midrange timbre and intelligible dialog. There are 4 speakers - a pair of down-firing woofers and side/back-firing tweeters - which fill out the sound nicely, as long as the TV is placed near a boundary like a back wall (it probably won't work as well in the middle of a room). It's not quite as nice as the sound on my gargantuan old WEGA tube TV, and it won't replace a home theater, but unlike so many Samsungs I've heard it's eminently usable for everyday TV or casual movie viewing.DESIGN: The TV looks great - extremely sleek and streamlined, with a super thin bezel that my wife really likes. It doesn't have the imposing high-tech look of some previous XBR sets with the floating glass design, instead opting for a minimalist design with hidden speakers. We have it sitting on a 16" deep Elfa wall unit and it's very attractive without calling too much attention to itself. For the first few weeks, I was somewhat alarmed at how quickly the glossy black bezel attracted dust (I was wiping it down every other day), but thankfully this has mostly gone away - probably just some manufacturing residue holding a static charge or something. (FYI, the edge trim on ours is a darker charcoal-gray color, rather than the lighter silver I've seen on some earlier showroom models.)CONS: my biggest pet peeve is the limited viewing angles of the LCD panel. If you drift even a few degrees off dead center, colors will fade rapidly, particularly reds. More than 45 degrees off axis and the picture is quite washed-out - the backlight bleed off-axis isn't as bad as our 32" Panasonic, but the Panasonic's IPS panel does a better job maintaining color fidelity. If you have lots of family and friends that like to watch movies together, or do a lot of viewing off to the sides, plasma is still the way to go. The internet functionality, while potentially useful, feels a little immature. Navigating through the interface is limited and sluggish, and some of the internet widgets are so slow as to be barely usable. I only tested Netflix streaming briefly and it did stutter at times, though a recent software update supposedly mitigates this. I still intend to use it, but for best quality, I'll rent the Blu-Ray. I also get the nagging feeling that the menus are a tad more sluggish than on the non-internet-capable W4100 - probably just extra overhead from the more bloated system software.A couple more nits: Wi-Fi really should have been included, and it would have been nice if Sony included a SD card slot for photo/movie viewing, though the limited video codec support makes the latter rather moot. And I really wish the stand swivelled, particularly given the limited viewing angles. In the end though, these gripes are fairly minor, and in a few weeks of ownership haven't detracted from our overall enjoyment of the set.Incidentally, 40" is the perfect size for our living room (12' x 16' or so) - the 9' viewing distance is comfortable and easy on the eyes (my wife says she is squinting a lot less). For a more cinematic experience, or for a lot of game playing, a 46" is a better fit for this distance, but we specifically didn't want the room to become a theater.CONCLUSION: All in all, I'm extremely happy with the 40XBR9! If I were to be really strict, I would probably have to dock a star here and there for the aforementioned cons, but given all the other 4 and 5-star reviews for TVs that I feel are inferior, I'm taking the liberty of grade-curving it up. Highly recommended!UPDATE (1/31/10): I should probably mention that as cited in the CNET review, the XBR9 does suffer from some slight backlight uniformity issues. On a completely dark picture, patches of the screen will be slightly lighter than others. On my particular set it's only really noticeable in the top left corner against a black screen. Also, when using a HDMI splitter and my DVR in 720p output mode, the Sony was a bit finicky locking onto the signal and displayed an "unsupported signal" error (my Panasonic had no issues). However given that HDMI splitting can be rather marginal in and of itself, I don't consider it a major problem. (Switching the DVR to 1080i, which is a better setting for a 1080p TV anyway, was an easy workaround.)PICTURE SETTINGS: Here is my calibration by eye, using test patterns on the PS3 and a blue filter. For Blu-Ray movies, I use the theater mode.Picture mode: CustomBacklight: 4 (theater: 3)Picture: 85Brightness: 50Color: 55 (theater: 58)Hue: G2Sharpness: MinColor Temp: Neutral (theater: Warm 2)Cinemotion: OffFor TV viewing, my settings are (somewhat arbitrarily) slightly differentPicture mode: StandardBacklight: 5Color: 49Cinemotion: Auto 1All other features (noise reduction, black corrector, etc.) are always OFF. For the most accurate picture, don't use that stuff!Motionflow is set to OFF except for some video material such as sports which can benefit from it. For film-based material I still find the motion interpolation rather unnatural in distracting.Currently I am using some power saving features to be a little more green; however for the most accurate picture they should be set to OFF.

1Warning : Failed after 1 year, If you have to have a Sony XBR then buy Extended Warranty or BUY another brand
By T. Lam
Here's my story, hope someone can learn from my tragic mistake. Furthermore, I just realized the LCD panel is actually made by Samsung NOT Sony. If you buy a Sony TV; why is the LCD Panel (the most important and expensive part of the TV) is made in Korea by Samsung. The picture might be good but how long will it last.....for me it only lasted 1 year and 4 months. Also If you do a simple search on Amazon you will find that Amazon does not sell Sony XBR LCD TV directly anymore since I guess they have so many complaints from their customers on the Sony LCD TV. Go ahead look and see you can find Amazon selling Sony XBR LCD TV directly...Amazon actually refer you to another brand like LG or other brands when you are looking any Sony XBR LCD TVs.....and my Full Story below:5/9/2010- I brought the Sony XBR series TV on Amazon about 1 year and 4 months ago and now the TV have failed. The picture quality was amazing until just yesterday the picture started to degrade and now it has green clouds and rainbows all over the pictures. I just call the Sony authorize tech service from they said it will cost me $75 for the in house service since it's out of warranty. They also said that if it's the LCD panels has failed then it would cost as much as the TV itself. This is my first LCD from Sony but I have 3 other Sony TVs- 1 30" Sony CRT, 1 47" XBR rear projection and 1 65" XBR rear projection TV. All the previous Sony TVs had no problem at all and I am still using the 65" rear projection TV. What happen to Sony's quality and reliability product? I guess it went to the same place as other first rated Japanese products like Toyota. They are just too busy on cutting cost and lower their reliabilities so they can rack in the billion dollars profit. So if you like the picture quality of Sony TVs; be advice to buy their extended warranty. I wish I did because if the LCD panel failed then my LCD TV is just a big 52" black picture frame hanging on the wall. If you really, really have to get a Sony XBR LCD TV then I would recommend to get 5 years extended warranty plan for $299-it will save you a lot of frustration. And after 5 years, you will probably do a upgrade anyway.5/11/2010 update: Today the tech came and verified that the LCD panel has gone bad after 1 year and 4 months of service. In the tech's own words-the panel is a factory defect since it should not failed after just a little over a year of service and that I should call Sony and see they will reimburse the cost of the panel. I am so disappointed on the product since I did not just buy any Sony TV but the top of the line XBR series TV. I called Sony and told them the whole story but they just told me to fax all the documents -receipt and repair cost to Sony and they will evaluate it. I will wait and see what happen - but at this point I am really disappointed and frustrated with the whole thing! :-(Update: 5/13/2010-Just received a call from Sony "Customer Relations" today. It's official-Sony don't stand behind their products. They will not pay for the cost of their defective LCD panel since it's out of warranty (1 year) after 1 year and 4 month of service. They just lost a loyal customer. No more Sony products in my house. Sony customer relations representative even has the nerve to offer me $900 reimbursement on a $$3517.75 repair cost. That's right-I will have to pay $2617.76 to fix my $2018.88 LCD TV. So if you buy a Sony TV and you have a defective LCD panel after 1 year of use then you can just throw that TV in the trash because Sony will tell you go F yourself and trash the TV. Good luck on buying a Sony LCD TV because you going to need it-and looks like from my research, I am not the only customer that have a defect LCD panel after 1 year. In fact, the LCD panel is not even made by Sony but Samsung made in Korea. Samsung LCD Panels have notoriously for premature failure of their LCD panels. So no more Sony LCD for me or should I say Samsung LCD TV ....

4Great picture with a few drawbacks
By whickus
I had been looking at and researching HDTVs for a while and had pretty much decided on going with a plasma, due to the better viewing angle and deeper blacks. I was a bit hesitant, though, about picking up a plasma because of all the "burn-in" horror stories that have piled up over the years, so I was still hoping to find an LCD display that would blow me away while still being affordable. When I came across this Toshiba, it appeared that this would be that LCD. I made several trips to the big box whose logo looks like a big yellow tag and spent close to an hour each time comparing a few different models as best as one can in the controlled lighting of the retail environment. I was impressed with the black level, overall contrast, and picture quality of this tv. The image also appeared to be cleaner than others, with very few jaggies or digital artifacts.I ended up purchasing this tv (great deal with the free 19") and taking it home. The screen size is plenty large enough to see clearly from 10 ft away, but not too bulky to carry inside, unpack and set up by myself . It looks great and feels sturdy. The light-up Toshiba logo is a pretty nice touch, but I set it to off since it's a little distracting. There are a TON of picture adjustments available through a few standard and advanced menu options. A lot of these options are probably only available on most other sets through service menus, which are meant to be navigated by professional calibrating services. I spent the first five hours of Saturday and a few more on Sunday tweaking the picture while watching blu-rays, with my main attention on getting a good, dark black level and accurate skin tones. I got the settings dialed in to what pleases my eye and thought it looked darn good (maybe not a professional calibration, but I was very pleased with it). The sound was not as bad as I've read in some reviews. I never experienced the crackling that others have, but I also never needed to turn the volume up past 30, even sitting 10 ft away. So far, everything was great but naturally, with the good, you get the bad.The drawbacks that I experienced were more personal annoyances, I suppose, but I've read that they are inherent to LCDs (to varying degrees), and I still could not ignore them after I discovered them. The first of which is the limited viewing angle. After the hours of tweaking, the set looks incredible when viewed head on. This changed, though, when I stood up or watched as I walked around the room. The black areas turn bluish and the overall picture loses its pop. This was the case if I viewed from any other angle than sitting on the couch directly in front of it. Granted, that's where I plan on watching tv from, but if I wanted to watch from the kitchen or have guests over, it wouldn't be as enjoyable. I was kinda disappointed because I had not experienced this in the store. It's not horrible, just something I didn't like. Also, it may have been exaggerated by how good the picture looks head on. The off angle picture may be as good as last year's model, but by improving the head on picture, it doesn't look as good from the sides. Who knows. I'm also coming from decades of watching CRTs where the viewing angle does not change. I knew to watch out for this with LCDs, but I guess you just can't get away from it unless you spend a few grand on one.My other gripe was with the uneven backlight, or cloudiness, in dark areas, especially along the top and coming from the top corners ("flashlight" effect). Before purchasing this tv, I had found only one account of this occurring with this Toshiba. I had actually forgotten about it and wasn't looking for it when I noticed it myself. I didn't notice it until nighttime when I had the lights dimmed and the screen was supposed to be black. It's more apparent while performing non-viewing actions, such as switching inputs, changing channels, etc., but it is noticeable at certain times while watching movies. I didn't notice this during the day but, again, just something I didn't like. It's also possible I received a faulty display. All in all, this is a great LCD for the price. I couldn't find one in-store in the same price point that came close. Great picture, super sharp, and lots and lots of picture tweaking options. I didn't have the chance to take home any other LCDs to see if they had the same low viewing angle properties or uneven backlight that mine did, so I don't know if this Toshiba is an exception or not. I did end up exchanging it for a plasma, though, because I felt they suit my tastes better (and it turns out that burn-in is not a huge issue anymore), but for those looking for an LCD and looking to spend $1200, I would highly suggest taking a look at this one.

3picture great but sound issues
By J. mulvey
Recieved TV and delivery was great, even carried downstairs and unboxed it, great service. The picture is great but cabinet is not sufficeintly damped to prevent speakers from causing "buzziness" at volume levels above volume level 25%. I tightened all screws on back of cabinet and then applied sound damper sheet used commonly in car audio installations (I had several sheets left over, purchased from parts express) and it seems to have fixed the problem. If you take you hand and pinch the front bezel and the rear black plastic cover together and buzz disappears then try this method of fixing. Initially very upset but only took a few minutes and two sheets of damper cut up and placed across the back of TV case to fix issue. I contacted Toshiba service and they were accomodating and supplied me with local service provider information but I find it disturbing that these issues are present in a new TV from a major manufacturer. I feel that the company knew about this issue because they had me "troubleshoot" by telling me to pinch TV bezel and cover in to find where noise was coming from. TV picture quality, delivery, excellent.....sound issues are fixed so I am very happy but perplexed Toshiba would allow this level of problem out of the factory.

5EXECELLENT LCD !!!
By Nelson Hernandez
I purchased this because consumer reports rated it a " Best Buy" Saying it had picture that rivaled many more expensive models. This model beat out Sony, LG, Samsung, Sharp and other big brands in its category.Reviewers even said the picture quality rivaled LCD's costing over $2,000.I already have a Toshiba and a sharp Aquos. I love my aquos so much and didnt think picture could get much better on an LCD.......well I was wrong. This Regza blew it out of the water. The Blu-rays look stunning.I wish more channels broadcast in full 1080p. Most HD channels broadcast in 720p which is a rip off by the industry and short changes us who invest on great LCD's for optimal viewing.I love playing Nintendo WII, Playstation and X-box on this...the 120hz technology keeps blazing fast picture crystal clear and not blurred as you would see with regular 60hz sets.I just watched the movie 300 on blu-ray on this set to see how good the effects could be and I was Blown away.I couldnt be happier and out of my 3 LCD TV's this is my number 1.

5Great Bedroom/kitchen TV
By T. Deltz
This is a great little hdtv for any bedroom or kitchen for its size!I was however, a little worried about the sound quality from other reviews I had read about this particuar model. After having it for a week I have found these bad reviews of the sound quality to be unfounded. The sound quality is excellent and plenty loud enough for a smaller room. The #1 feature of this set is the quality of the picture in brightly lit rooms. I have not seen another flat screen that handles light reflection as well as LG's. I am considering buying a second one to use for my desktop computer as it has a RGB input as well!!!

5Great Features, Great Picture, Great Price
By Ilene C.
For those of you who want a bright, sharp HDTV packed with useful features for the bedroom, this is your set! I have used my television as an alarm clock since my college days in the 1970's (that is not a typo!) and this television has that feature. You can wake to your favorite morning news show. Another feature that i didn't expect and love, is touted as a "Green" feature. For all of us insomniacs out there, if you can't sleep, and you like the "noise" of the tv, but don't want the whole room lit up, this television has a feature that allows you to listen to the television but shut the picture. I was surprised and thrilled when I discovered this. Of course there is a sleep timer, different picture settings etc. The audio, unfortunately, leaves something to be desired. But that is the only negative I find, and it is way overshadowed by the great features of this television. I highly recommend it.

5Fantastic LCD HDTV
By Vee
The LG 22LH20 22-Inch 720p LCD HDTV is great. I have it in my small bedroom and the size is perfect. I don't think I would go any larger. The setup was easy. I have a coaxial cable connecting from the outside to this TV. All I had to do was automatically scan for channels and I was able to pick up well over a hundred so that tells you how good the digital tuner is on the 22LH20.Positives:- Elegant design- Easy setup- Strong digital ATSC and QAM tuners- Beautiful, crisp, and clear picture- Pretty good black levels, although I wasn't expecting much with an 8,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Even so, the picture is amazingly sharp.- 5ms response time. You don't see many response times like that on TVs this size.- Good amount of picture settings and adjustment options- Great sound. I see several people on various sites complaining about the sound. Why? The sound is extremely clear and loud. I have my TV's volume at 10 and that's more than sufficient for me. The highest this TV goes up to is 100. What I would suggest to everyone is to follow these steps to get great sound: MENU > AUDIO > Clear Voice II: ON > Level: 6(Max.) > Sound Mode: Standard(User) > Treble: 100 > Bass: 100- The energy saving features. Yes, this TV has a sleep timer where you can set it to turn off at a set number of minutes. However, you can go a step further by setting the TV to turn on and off at a specific times. For example, I have my TV set to go off Sun.-Sat. at 12am. You can also set it to turn on on particular days of the week, a specific time, input, channel and volume level. The Energy Saving feature also can dim the brightness of the TV or turn the screen completely off so that all you hear is the sound of the TV. Great feature especially if you are one of those people who needs the sound of the TV to go to sleep. This can be accomplished without you wasting energy because the screen is on and you don't have to worry about the light of the TV distracting you.Negatives- Only 1 HDMI port- Some backlight bleed at at the top and bottom of the screen. Only noticeable, somewhat, in dark scenes and more noticeable when the picture is completely black.- Viewing angle isn't the greatest. The picture color washes out a bit from extreme side angle views but not enough for it to be unwatchable like I've seen on other HDTVs of this size.- The screen is not exactly 22in. but about a half inch less than that. I know it's common for LCDs' diagonal inches to be inexact but it's annoying nonetheless. The LG 22LH20 is my second LG HDTV and like my other one I'm very please with it. LG doesn't get it's due because of the brand being eclipsed by brands such as Sony, Samsung and others. But it seems like no matter what I buy from this company, I'm rarely if ever disappointed. The LG 22LH20 is no exception. This is a wonderful little TV for small bedrooms and dorm rooms. I highly recommend it.
