5Quality product, fair price
By Donna Hoffner
Television was easy to set up. Had Netflix up and running over wifi in minutes.Picture is clear and crisp, tiny amount of light bleed on pure black screen, but have not noticed it on any of the content I have viewed yet. Has a superb viewing angle.Used built in speakers to test their functionality, they are of average quality. I would say for casual watching they are adequate. I choose to use the digital optical to an amplifier to use the web apps. The built in apps provide great functionality although the webtv application itself seems to not flow very well and has considerable lag while rotating through the list of available applications. The set itself is thin, and as a package I would say it is very aesthetically pleasing. The base feels solid and the on-set buttons are easy to press. I would say the remote, while providing plenty of functionally, it's physical shape seems awkward.I am so far very impressed and glad that I made this purchase. Also, at this price with built in wifi and web applications it feels like a steal.

4Great for the price
By Sumeet Kumar
Following are my observations1) Picture quality not upto the standard of Samsung, but not bad either. This is noticeable in a showroom where both TV's were placed side by side. I tinkered around with the settings of toshiba and was not able to reproduce picture quality of samsung (UN46D6300). But on its own, the picture quality is very enjoyable and definitely acceptable.2) Speakers are substandard. Will not be enough for a large living room.3) For the price, this TV has lots of features (For e.g. wifi internet support, helps in reducing one wire going to my TV).After using the TV for couple of weeks, I can say that I will make the same choice again, and do not regret this at all.

1Want to love it, but significant flaws!
By G. Shockey
*UPDATE*It it now December 22 and I finally came to a solution with Toshiba. This nightmare is finally over, after various tech visits, 2 panel replacements (with the second one being DOA) and a board replacement, and close to 6 months of fighting and arguing with Toshiba I have received a store credit for toshiba-direct. Not as good as a full refund, but I'm glad just to get rid of the thing. During the second panel replacement a helpful tech had the television apart during a repair and informed me the issues I was having was unacceptable and the wiring/connectors they used were the flimsiest and cheapest he had seen. He had to call and request a 3rd panel replacement AND new wiring harnesses to fix issues with the wiring in the set as well. I did not have go through yet another repair, as Toshiba finally agreed to issue a credit and scheduled a pick up for the shipment.By this point I had already replaced it with a Panasonic Plasma (st30 series) and couldnt be happier! As mentioend before, I have owned previous Toshiba televisions and not had issues, but be forwarned of their decline in quality.*UPDATE*While waiting for my scheduled home service visit my problem worsened to where the sound and video would cut in and out, and dead pixels started appearing. The last service visit was a joke. After being told by Toshiba and Pinnacle services (the contractor conduct the second repair) that the main board would be replaced, rescheduling the appointment to make sure the part would be in so the tech could conduct the repair, the technician came WITHOUT the part to do a "diagnostic visit" on the television. He concluded the MAIN BOARD and the PANEL needed to be replaced, and he would order both parts.I called toshiba "Case Managers" immediately after he left. I basically refused to get off of the phone until I spoke with a supervisor, which never happened. First, James was sarcastic, not open to listening to any problem I have, and hung up on me after arguing with me that would do nothing else but schedule another repair visit. That means I would have to stay home from work yet again, and in the meantime be stuck with a faulty television which I had bought new. After being hung up on I called back and spoke with Brianna, who I had the same result with. She was rude, closed off, and acted like I was a bother to interrupt her day. This resulted in me being hung up on again because I wanted to speak to their supervisor and make a complaint against the product AND the way I was being treated by customer service. So I called back AGAIN, and after a few minutes of arguing she finally began to answer my questions. There is a serious lack of any sense of responsibility to the consumer. They both informed me they were the highest level there I could speak to, although James had to put me on hold to speak to his supervisor on my behalf. From a customer standpoint i find this ridiculous, and quite frankly lousy!I waited a couple weeks, never hearing back from Pinnacle regarding the repair so I called them. They explained only one part has been ordered and after that repair, then they can re-assess and order the panel if needed. The following day I received a follow up call from Pinnacle explaining it would probably be late October before the board was received and they can send a tech out!I will NEVER buy another Toshiba product and advise all consumers to steer clear! not only is the quality decline unbelievable, but the customer service is a joke! They obviously don't care about delivering a quality product or a decent customer service experience!*UPDATED REVIEW FROM 4 TO 1 STARS*I am so fed up with this television and Toshiba! After having my panel replaced, a wide vertical band started appearing on the left hand side of the screen, just as before. Also, I noticed the sound popping in and out on all of my HDMI inputs. This tv is GARBAGE! I have asked Toshiba to replace the unit since I paid for a NEW tv, but they insist on continuing to send out techs to repair parts. After replacing the LCD panel, the next part to be repaired is the main board. I guess we will see if that fixes the problem. I have had to miss work waiting on repair techs who do not stick to their scheduled appointments (hours late!) and would have rather just stayed with my Panasonic 37 inch (which the 46 inch Toshiba replaced). This is costing me time and money having to deal with this junk product! I NEVER had problems with the Panasonic and I will NEVER buy another Toshiba product again, I advise anyone thinking of buying this TV to stay away and purchase ANY other brand!=================================*UPDATED REVIEW FROM 2 TO 4 STARS*Toshiba agreed to change the panel and sent a repair tech to take care of the job. The old panel was obviously defective... HOORAY to Toshiba for providing the replacement so easily, BOO to 6ave for their lousy return policy. It took a little chasing down but Toshiba made it right, no questions asked. The backlight bleeding and clouding seems to be fixed, no edge-lit LED is perfect but it looks as good as it possibly could. The picture is now even and crisp, and I can enjoy watching movies in the dark again. The channel lag is still there, but firmware updates seem to have addressed the internet apps freezing and the picture controls reseting. The update also installed skype, which you can use by plugging a webcam into the usb port. Not five stars due to the channel surfing lag and the initial letdown.=================================I have owned various LCD TVs, ranging from Samsung to Panasonic to Toshiba. This is my second Toshiba television (my first LED) and I must say I will never buy another Toshiba television again. To give credit where its due, the color of the picture is great, the design of the tv is sleek and elegant, the 120hz is smooth, and the features/internet capabilities are great. BUT the flaws of the TV itself take away from the potential this TV has.The backlight bleed is HORRIBLE on this set. The right side of the screen is twice as bright as the left, which is very uneven and distracting. I have turned the backlight to ZERO and it is still very prevalent. during dark shots it looks like someone is shining a flashlight onto the face of the set. It's terribly distracting during dark movies. Forget about watching movies in the dark. The uniformity of the screen is awful. The internet apps seem great at first, but after a while there have been several lockups and the set will not allow me to access the widgets or the Net TV features. I've had to call Toshiba customer support regarding this, and reset my tv several times. Since then there have been several times that my tv picture settings have suddenly reset themselves, leaving me to recalibrate my picture over and over again. There is significant lag when changing the channels using the remote. There is at least a 3 second delay between the tuner changing stations and the picture locking in on the set. Its very annoying when trying to channel surf. I've never experienced another tv like this.I have owned a previous Toshiba television from a few years back. I had ZERO problems with it, this television has opened my eyes to the decline of quality in Toshiba products. I bought this based on my good experience with Toshiba in the past, but NEVER again.Unfortunately I bought this from 6ave (from their site) and they have ZERO return policy on tv's 37 inches and larger. They defer you to the manufacturer warranty. BUYER BEWARE.I am currently wrestling with Toshiba's warranty and service department. On Toshiba's end the phone support has been friendly enough and I've been informed a tech will provide onsite assistance but I've been given the run around by Nexicore (the 3rd party repair service). Toshiba has given me several case numbers to contact Nexicore, I have called Nexicore twice and they have no record of any case number for my situation.I really wanted to like this TV, but I just can't. this is the only TV purchase I have ever regretted. Two stars for the potential the TV had, but its a fail.

5Absolutely THE BEST!
By J. Weisgal
I feel as though most people make a purchase, and then justify it by raving about it's performance, even if in their heart of hearts they know it is junk.Just recently, an acquaintance of mine purchased an LCD television that, while asthetically pleasing, has one of the worst pictures I have seen. Trail, ghosting, poor colors, etc... DLP projection is simply the best picture you can buy if dollars spent VS. quality of picture is your goal. If you MUST hang a TV on a wall, KNOW that you MUST ALSO spend at least $7000 for a picture that begins to match the quality of a $2500 DLP. The cheaper flat screens are cheaper for a reason. You do the math. This Samsung model is just gorgeous. HDTV is simply stunning. Colors are crisp, black levels are INCREDIBLE, and the picture is 95% perfect right out of the box! I had an engineer look at this set and say "it is perfect when you plug it in". So many sets need "tweaking" for days before they look right, so this is an added benefit on this model. Also, the set has PIP, which can be used for watching TV while also using your computer! Simply run video out from your computer and you have a 50 inch HD Monitor!! Awsome! This set has HDMI, which no one really uses yet, but it is nice to have for the future. For those who do not know, HDMI is ONE cable that carries HD PICTURE AND SURROUND SOUND. It also has DVI input for the BEST HDTV picture available. The look (pedestal) is love it or leave it, but if you are here, you obviously find it pleasing.I can not comment on the sound as I have never used it (I have a home theater system), and this brings me to a slightly offpoint comment, but one that is important. if you DO get a surround system, please do this television justice and do not buy some junky home theater in a box! Sound is actually MORE impotant than picture in terms of a visceral experience, and you do yourself no service to buy this set, and then use garbage sound. Also, BOSE, while nice, is overpriced and simply silly. DO RESEARCH, and find that no respected audio/videophile respects BOSE, when they know better can be had for less.Sorry...back to my review. This set is wonderful. You can use a nice open-air AV rack to complement it visually, and as far as gaming goes, XBOX in HD is fabulous!!!ONE NOTE ON DVD's. this television has a native resolution of 720P DVD's only have a maximum of 480P, and as a technology, DVD's are not that great, which is why HD DVD's will be out this year (DVD's that do 480p,720p,1080i,1080p ie. High Definition DVD's) Do not be disappointed if DVD's look a bit fuzzy, pixelated, whatever... they look that way on ALL HDTV's. It is the DVD, not the TV. Still, they look nice.Well, that's all. You may want to wait until 1080 native resolution sets are available later this year, but mind you they come with a hefty price tag! For now, this is THE set; and I say that not because I own it, but because it is true. Enjoy!TOP NOTES:PROS:Good ClarityGREAT BLACK LEVELSNice ContrastBEST COLOR ON THE MARKETIt is light...about 100lbs for a 50 Inch TV!!!!!CONS:Can't hang it on a wall (it IS only 11 inches deep)Pedestal not for everyone

4My Favorite Retreat
By Chen E. Zhou
I have this TV in my game room over the garage. I'll tell you it is the most awesome piece of AV equipment I've ever owned. The HD Picture quality is breath-taking (I have the HDNet/ESPNHD packages from TimeWarner, the Discovery documentaries shot in HD are just crystal clear and so realistic, feels like you are right there. Best of all, there is no service adjustments you have to do to make the picture quality improve, it's right out of the box top quality. I did adjust the brightness and tuned down the sharpness to fit my viewing taste. I also configured the 1280x702 resolution for my computer viewing pleasure, which is hooked into the DVI port. I am sitting 10 foot from it and it is like I am viewing it right on my office desk, so clear and sharp.Pros:1. No service adjustments.2. Low Fan noise, not noticable at all. Not much heat.3. Picture quality is amazing.Cons:1. Heavy stand, 80 pounds by itself.2. Not easy to put AV components around.3. The little shadows sometimes noticable on screen, because the screen hasn't completely heated up yet.

5Great Contrast, Great Black-Level
By Donald H. Nguyen
The GUY COMPLAINING about "HD-ready" being deceptive IS AN IDIOT... by his argument, he should give every HD-ready TV a bad review. In fact... very few TVs out there are HD-Integrated, and almost all you'd see in the store are only HD-ready. This guy probably complains about a car with an AUTOMATIC transmission not driving by itself. This TV has a great contrast ratio, and great black levels. MY X-Box looks just plain awesome on it - of course, you need a HD Video Adaptor(component video) for it ($20 for the Microsoft adaptor - don't waste your money on a Monster Adaptor, even the EB sales reps advise against the Monster component adaptor, but I digress.) No signal delay issues with the X-Box.The only thing is that there's no where to put stuff, and when you look at the specs of the add-on shelving unit, it's much wider than the TV, ..... but I just got a glass/metal shelf to put next to it to put my cable-box, X-Box, DVD player on.

4Excellent - 4 stars for image quality but, 5 stars for value
By R. White
I've owned and sold 32, 42, 50 and 52 inch flat panel TVs over the last four years. Three Samsung's one LG and this Panasonic. Before purchasing this TV I compared this side by side with the competing Samsung 43" plasma. I made adjustments to these TVs for the best picture possible. The TVs had identical program material sent to them. The colors on the Samsung were a bit brighter especially the blue. But, this does not mean better. The colors on the Panasonic were more natural and had better color definition. The most noticeable difference was the image depth. Background images on the Samsung were a little out of focus compared to the Panasonic. The Panasonic with it's sharper more detailed background had a superior depth of field.I have no hesitation recommending this TV to anyone looking for a reasonably priced 42" TV with a very good picture quality and better than average sound. Considering that this is a plasma be sure that your room is not to bright or that you can control the amount of light entering your room. I really think that CNET should reconsider their rating on this TV.I've taken time to carefully setup this TV and recommend the following settings for those who purchase this TV and would like to try these settings.Picture Menu: Cinema, 99, 41, 54, 0, 31, Normal, off, off, offP.S. I own a Samsung (PN50B650)50" plasma that I'm very pleased with. This Panasonic for it's price is a better value and just as pleasing to watch.

5GREAT picture from Panasonic TC-P42X5
By brookhaven1999
We purchased the Panasonic TC-P42X5 and love it!I initially wanted a 1080p model with a 42 inch screen.Unfortunately, Panasonic discontinued the 42 inch plasma sets with 1080p in 2012 and only produced them with 720p.I read one review that stated that if you are watching a 42 inch screen from a distance of 8 ft. that the human eyecannot distinguish between 720p and 1080p.Based on our experience, I would agree with that. We are COMPLETELY satisfied with the picture we get with this TV.We have it hooked up to a Panasonic DMP-BDT220 Blu-ray player and love both the DVD quality as well as the ability tostream Netflix through the Blu-ray player. In addition, we are using a roof top antenna and not cable and still get excellent TV reception over the Panasonic plasma TV.Here is a copy of the review I had written about the antenna and pre-amp we are using. We live 60 miles east of NYC. Reception has been a problem using only an antenna.I just installed a Winegard HD7698P HDTV High Band VHF-UHF Antenna with a Channel Master CM-7778 Titan Medium-Gain Mast Mounted Preamplifier.Signal strength was 34% before installation of this Preamp and Antenna; it has now increased to 52%.Stations that we receive come in sharper. However, I still cannot get CBS or NBC.Update: Recently we purchased a Panasonic TC-P42X5 plasma TV to replace an old analog set that we had been using with adigital converter box. Apparently the digital receiver in the new TV is much stronger than the digital converter box, because TV reception from our roof top Winegard HD7698P Antenna is much better now. Signal strength has increased from 52%to 85% (and above) which has pulled in more channels including CBS, Fox, and Channel 9.

5AMAZING
By Alex
I bought this tv as an Early birthday present to myself. Instillation was easy, I hooked it up to my Sony Blu-Ray player, Directv HD reciever and the images are sharp, crisp and clear.Watching Sports on this tv is jaw-dropping. I have it on set to 'Cinema' mode it's the best viewing experience. I am AMAZED how fantastic it is for such a terrific price. This is my second Panasonic HDTV and will continue to buy ONLY panasonic tv's.

4Recommend the ET5 Series for Best-In-Class Picture, 3D and IPTV
By "D"
I bought this TV for a very bright room with lots of sunlight, as this IPS LED seemed brighter than any plasma display, and without the energy draw or heat of a plasma. I'm exceptionally happy with this great TV on many levels.Highlights of why I like this television:I have seen the future and it's clearly LED. The picture quality of this LED TV is top-notch. The brightness and the colors are fantastic, showing a truly stunning picture with an extremely wide viewing angle from the sides that really is a hair away from 180°. It's also very bright, noticeably brighter than a plasma TV. While it's not quite as good at displaying pure black and picture uniformity in comparison to high-end videophile plasmas that costs thousands more, it's really not far off. It's the best I've seen from an LCD/LED set and as good or better than mainstream plasmas. From reading Internet forums, I appear to be the one person on the planet who prefers motion interpolation, which Panasonic calls "Motion Picture Setting" and this TV allows four settings: Off/Weak/Medium/Strong. Basically, I prefer life-like video, with natural motion that feels like I am watching in-person on a stage or set rather than film or video, and "Strong" pretty much delivers that. 1080p HD sources look like I'm watching a play with the action unfolding live in front of me. For sports, the experience is unrivaled and truly pulls you into the action. Or, if you hate this so-called "Soap Opera Effect" and prefer traditional film/video movement, then you can turn this feature off. And if you need very fast response, there's also a Game mode.I was completely unprepared for being blown away by this TV's 3D picture. I've played with 3D TV before, but somehow other TVs with bulky electro-mechanical active shutter 3D glasses always let me down due to the flicker, which distracted me from enjoying the 3D effect. I tried an LG passive 3D TV last year, and the effect was "dulled" compared to active 3D TV so I wrote off the whole 3D-at-home thing as immature technology. Not any more. The state-of-the-art has apparently changed in one year. This TV is the best of both worlds (active-like effect/passive-like ease and no flicker) and comes with four pairs of lightweight passive polarized 3D theater glasses (TY-EP3D10), and frankly, the effect is amazing with none of the flicker of active glasses. I watched several Blu-ray 3D movies along with my cable company's 3D channels and 3D VOD. All I can say is... wow. It's not only very watchable, it's incredible. Movies are flat-out fun. Sports on ESPN 3D are amazing. Interestingly, the TV has a 2D-3D conversion function which is really quite good; although it lacks the deep depth of native 3D content, whatever magic it uses to turn 2D into 3D is remarkably effective. I had no idea passive 3D TV could be this good. The TV has a good array of inputs: 4 HDMI 1.4 ports with ARC, 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 set of component (Y/Pb/Pr) or composite video & analog stereo audio RCA connectors (via included proprietary adapter), 1 PC VGA connector, 1 coax RF port, 1 SDXC card slot, and 1 Fast Ethernet jack. WiFi is built-in, with no dongle required, and therefore does not take up a USB port. The TV's black stand and black/clear frame are attractive, making it look stylish in my living room. And the glossy black remote is very nice, with illuminated buttons.Internet TV is via Panasonic's smart TV system called VIERA Connect. It's simple, and has applications included for subscription services like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus, MLB.TV and others. I stream videos from Amazon Prime and it works great with high quality HD. Another standout is the Skype app, which requires the optional TY-CC20W camera with inbound calls integrated into the watching experience. Audio and video Skype calls can be received or dismissed while watching something else, and the overall Skype experience is simple and straightforward with very high quality video calls. Outbound calls require going into VIERA Connect, and then launching Skype. Perhaps initiating an outbound call while watching other content could also be similarly better integrated in the future with fewer button presses?Sound is very good for a flat screen TV, and is certainly more than I was expecting. Don't expect miracles, the integrated speakers are small and on the bottom of the frame facing down, and compared with an external sound bar or home theater system they're missing bass and some midrange. But, for a panel TV, the sound is really very good.Quibbles, as overall it's still an outstanding TV:The digital audio out (TOShttp://amzn.com/dp/B00752RABS/?tag={komponelektr-20} optical) doesn't pass through everything, as surround sound (DD/DTS) does not get passed from HDMI connections (silence or static instead) and audio from Skype is not passed at all (probably for echo-cancellation reasons). In both cases the TV speakers still work if enabled. The VIERA Remote App on iOS slow and clunky, although I suppose it's nice to have it as an option. It makes the iPhone vibrate with every remote button press. I found it not a particularly useful gadget compared to the normal infrared remote.By default, the TV shows sponsored banner ads upon startup (VIERA Connect Banner) and in the VIERA Connect app selection screen. I suppose this pervasive advertising is the future of digital media, but it seems unnecessarily intrusive on your own TV as it's turning on. You can disable the startup advertisement, and move the VIERA Connect ad app to another app page with seldom-used applications. However, if you disable the startup banner ad, and you try to use IPTV in the first 15 seconds or so after turning the TV on, you get an error message saying the TV needs an Internet connection. The DLNA Media Player isn't quite full-featured enough to be the primary home network media player for me, even though its user interface is fast and simple. The first major flaw is that while it plays many media formats, such as MKV/H.264, it doesn't support some exceptionally common media formats like AVI files ("Cannot read file"). What is perplexing is the FAQ on the Panasonic web site says certain AVI files are supported. It may not be that AVI is the actual problem, but any media in any container encoded with MPEG-4 Visual such as DivX/Xvid/Nero Direct/3ivx/QuickTime 6 video codecs ("Cannot read file") and that just happens to be the most common format for AVI video. Also, media encoded with a DTS audio codec plays without any audio ("Audio format not supported"); it would have been nice if digital audio would at least be passed unmodified through to the digital audio out port. Other formats trip it up as well. I tried a media file that contained two audio tracks (one in German, the second in English) and while the menu appeared like one could choose which track plays, it only displayed and played the first track. The second major flaw is that it immediately begins playing the highlighted video in a preview window as you move up and down your list of media, including its audio, which is not only annoying but also places a burden on the media server if the media needs transcoding. This might be the case, for example, if you configure your DLNA Media Server to transcode AVI/MPEG-4/DTS files in order to even have them play at all with this TV's media player. The only complete miss on this TV: I found the web browser pure misery to use with the included infrared remote. While I could fumble through navigation using the VIERA Remote App from my iPhone, I couldn't get any site with video to work. It's one of the worst overall web browsing experiences I've ever encountered. In my opinion, the web browser is essentially unusable unless used as an instrument of torture. In such cases, I suspect it would be effective in extracting information from the most hardened target. ("I'll talk, just make it stop!")But, the issues are minor compared to the positives: the best-in-class plasma-beating picture, 3D quality and great IPTV functionality. Overall, this is a great TV.

3a lot to like, but....
By JoshJosh
I picked this TV to replace an older Samsung LCD; my primary uses are games, sports, and the occasional movie. I used it for 2 weeks steadily. This TV was easy to set up - it found my Wi-Fi network quickly and offered a firmware update which installed without hassle. The remote is easy to use and the menus are responsive. The settings are, unfortunately, few, as it seems to lack advanced picture controls (white balance and the like). However, working with what I had, I used the Disney WOW Blu-Ray to calibrate. The end results turned out to be very similar to "custom mode."The picture quality was good. Colors are great and I found motion handling to be very good. I didn't notice any "soap opera effect" - motion looked good to me. The one issue is that the default black setting ("Dark") crushed like crazy - no details could be found in dark scenes, and it was impossible to calibrate games (you know - "move the cursor until you barely see the logo"). Changing it to "light" resolved the issue, though.I don't have much to say on sound quality - it seemed loud and clear, but lacking "punch." I use a cheap Sony sound bar, and the sound on the TV definitely wasn't even close to that. Thankfully, the TV has an optical out so setup was not a hassle. I plugged in my cable box, PS3, and 360 to the TV through HDMI and routed the optical cord to the sound bar. This is my first 3D TV so I was eager to try out the 3D. Panasonic thankfully includes four glasses, which were a good side and fit comfortably even over my regular glasses. I am not well-versed on the difference between passive and active sets but this looked good. Some games looked great (Killzone 3, Super Stardust), some looked muddy and undetailed (Gears 3, Resistance 3). The TV even has a weird 2D-to-3D mode which can turn regular content into 3D. I tried it with a basketball game and it wasn't bad, though I wouldn't use it that much.Game support was just fine. With game mode turned off, games were pretty choppy and tore a lot, but with game mode on, it was smooth and responsive. I don't have a way to accurately measure lag but it seemed very good to me - 1-2 frames at most. The games I played looked good and Street Fighter was responsive - no complaints at all there.So. Good gaming, good picture, good 3D. Everything's great, right? Unfortunately not. The big problem with my set was banding, which is basically issues with uniformity in the backlight. The light is not distributed evenly which causes vertical bands to show up. Make no mistake - this is noticeable in certain content, and it detracts from the experience. Soccer matches and games with bright vistas (think Crysis or something like that) look dingy. It's gross, and unfortunately a dealbreaker. The set was returned.I'm not happy about it, but this is an inevitability when margins are so tight and competition is so fierce. I mean, most people probably won't notice it, but I do. It's quite possibly that I just got a bad panel, but it's possible I didn't. In my research, this appears to be a common issue with all LEDs, from all manufacturers. So just be careful when you consider this or any other TV.

5Perfect SmartTV- just add a few whistles
By gadgetinSJ
Just purchased, found it on sale for $999. It is the ET5 series from Panasonic. This series features passive 3D (not of great interest to me) and some of the best Smart TV functional (of great interest to me) functionality of all TVs in the price range.Let's start with the screen: Perfect size for our living space of roughly 10-15' from screen. It has great color and life like tones. I popped it into passive mode, just to check out some 3D action and I think it flowed very nice. I have yet to see any ghosting or issues with movement. I chose LED over Plasma, as Plasma tends to have more glare and our living space is bright.I was most interested in the Smart functions. I was looking for a TV that would allow for a QWERTY keyboard to make searching for movies and browsing the net quick. However, with the exception of a few Panasonics from 2011, there were few TVs that have a QWERTY keyboard. With the exception of a few high end models, there was nothing that fit the bill. Until I found the ET5 series. It not only has a free app from Panasonic (this TV is compatible), but it also allows you to use the keyboard on your iphone/ipad/android to type in things. ADDITIONALLY, (Panasonic does not advertise it very well and Best Buy sales guys are clueless), but you can use some USB wireless keyboard devices as an input device. What makes it stand out:1. Panasonic Viera remote compatible with Iphone/Ipad/Android control2. Can use 3rd party mini wireless keyboards3. Easy wifi or ethernet connectivity4. Bright, vivid screen5. Excellent value for the priceWhat could be better:1. It only has 2 USB ports (could be expanded?)2. The basic remote it comes with really is generic. I need a remote that can learn functions (so as to replace existing remotes) and has a keyboard for easy entry.Hope this helps!
